Pandian Stores fame Chitra’s recent sad demise left the industry in utter shock. Chitra reportedly died by suicide on December 9 in a hotel on the outskirts of Chennai. Chitra’s husband Hemanth was also booked under charges of abetment of suicide in connection with her death. (Photo - Instagram)

Actor Visu aka Meenakshisundaram Ramasamy Viswanthan, 74, died on March 22 at a private hospital in Chennai. He was reportedly battling many health issues including kidney-related ailment before he breathed his last due to cardiac arrest. National award winning filmmaker Visu was also a popular actor, talk show host, scriptwriter, theatre artist, politician and philanthropist, too. Visu hosted talk shows like Arattai Arangam and Makkal Arangam.

Actor Thavasi, aged 60, died on November 23 at a private hospital in Madurai. He was suffering from oesophageal cancer. Thenmozhi BA fame Selvarathinam, aged 42, got reportedly hacked to death on November 14. Selvarathinam appeared in TV serials and movies for over a decade. He was last seen as an accomplice to the main villain in the serial ‘Thenmozhi BA’. (Photo - Facebook)

Actor Balaji, popularly known as Vadivel Balaji, passed away on September 10 due to cardiac arrest. Balaji was known for his impeccable mimicry especially his imitation of popular comedian Vadivel.
