Starting with the short videos

Aura Bhatnagar started her acting career with short films and went on to play one of the leads in ‘ Bommai BA, BL’. Talking about the journey, Aura said, "My acting debut was indeed an accident. My cousin has been active in the film industry, and his friend ran a YouTube channel. I just asked him if I can act in his short film. It all began there. In the short film, I happened to meet the director Mangesh Kanthale."

Speaking about the co-artistsIMG-8864

Aura said, “My co-artists are all like family and are very supportive and encouraging. The days on the set are some of the most fun moments in my life. I am really happy to work with such brilliant actors like as Badoni, Pravisht Mishra, and Anchal Sahu.

Pravisht is always a silent guy on set but once the director says action he completely changes.

What are your short-term goals for your acting career and what do you hope to achieve in the long term as an actor?

Personally, I like both theatre and films. Each has its own distinctive features. I have tried theatre in my school and have enjoyed it too. One of the challenges I faced in acting is to adapt the body language in front of the camera. The way we naturally are and the way we have to perform the same action in front of the camera is very different. It was a bit hard to get used to.

What are the most valuable skills for an acting career?

Aura Bhatnagar said, "I think there are two particularly valuable skills for an actor: memorisation and the ability to observe and enact behaviours, expressions, and tones. It is also useful to have good intrapersonal skills and be able to speak and sing in various vocal styles and dialects. I have an excellent memory which is helpful for memorising lines and my expressive abilities help me to enact characters easily. I can also sing in a regional dialect, which improved my performance in a recent musical. I enjoy the rehearsal and production process because I like being around other people."

How do you respond to negative performance reviews?

"If the criticism is valid, I use the feedback to understand my performance and think of how to improve it in the future. If the criticism is baseless, then I try to ignore it. People are not always going to like what you do, and they have the right to express their opinions. I am grateful for all kinds of reviews, both good and bad because it would be worse to not receive any feedback at all," said Aura Bhatnagar.
