Satyavan Savitri actress Vedangi Kulkarni: I read a lot about Savitri before playing the role; the language and shooting on Chroma was challenging

The new mythological show 'Satyavan Savitri' is all set to launch soon. The show will portray the love and bonding between Satyavan and Savitri. Actress Vedangi Kulkarni, who is playing the role of Goddess Savitri, shared her excitement with ETimes TV and spoke about how challenging it was for her to work on the chroma set background, her preparation, and much more. Take a look:

About playing 'Savitri'

Savitri means sun. So the sun is shining on her and at the same time, she is born from a lotus. The beauty of the lotus flower is also in Savitri. Her aura is very positive. Savitri cares for everyone. She thinks about others first and then about herself. That's what I tried to bring to this role. Savitri is also very firm on her decisions.

3/6

About her preparation for the character

I read as much as possible to study the personality of Savitri. She is adamant about her decisions. While playing Savitri I realised that her personality is different and she may sometimes look rude on-screen. So, I prepped well for that. I also learned about her persona which is kind and simple but at the same time, I had the challenge to portray her firmness and stability. I also practised her body language and her manner of speaking very softly.

About the most challenging aspect of working for the show

The most important thing to be careful while doing a mythological show is the language. The dialect is different in this show. Also, we shoot on a Chroma set (Chroma key compositing, or chroma keying, is a visual-effects and post-production technique), so it was challenging. When we shoot in a live location, we have to imagine the things around us and react accordingly. It was tough.

One change that 'Savitri' brought in her

Savitri in fact helped me learn to be firm on my decisions.

About celebration of upcoming Vatpaurnima festival

Savitri and Satyavan's Vatpaurnima festival is around the corner and Vedangi spoke about it as well. She said, "The viewers know the story behind celebrating Vatpaurnima - Savitri's triumph in bringing her husband Satyavan to life again. But how did Savitri get back Satyavan's life and what was her journey? In today's world where divorce is common, the audience will learn what a real relationship is and how to sustain it. Savitri was a princess with many maids at her service. She had lived in a palace but for the love of her life, she happily gave up all her luxuries and came to live in the jungle with Satyavana. She proved to everyone what real love is. I request the viewers to watch this show regularly as the story will show the audience what true love is."
