Popular comedian and actor Raju Srivastava passed away today (September 21). The renowned comedian was 58-year-old and has been undergoing treatment at AIIMS, New Delhi, after collapsing at his gym following a cardiac arrest 41 days back. Raju had marked his presence in the Marathi TV show 'Changbhala' a few years back and revealed some funny incidents about his life, how he decided to make a career as a comedian, and much more. How Raju Srivastava decided to pursue his career as a comedian

Talking about his decision of entering the industry as a comedian, Raju shared a funny incident from his childhood and said, "I was in school and I used to love to mimic the teachers. I used to mimic my math teachers and science teachers. Later, someone complained about me and the principal called me to his room and asked what I did. He shouted at me and said-'Don't you feel ashamed? Don't you have any shame?'

Later, he asked me to perform the mimicry of teachers and I did it so well that he started laughing and forgot that he is angry at me. That day I decided that I can entertain people with my comedy.

​Love for cricket commentary

Raju said he loves to do cricket commentary. He said, "I love to do the commentary during the cricket. I used to do commentary during the cricket match in our village. I never did only cricket commentry. I would say like this, "Abhi batting karne aa rhe hai Prakash, jo pichli saal dasvi mein fail ho gaye hai. Abhi wapas fail huye toh college se nikaal diye jayenge. Ashok bhi unke sath khel rha hai, uske piche mahesh bhag rha hai, Mahesh college se bhi 2 baar bhaga hai aur ye ho gaye 4 run. Ganesh ne abhitakk 65 runn kiye hai aur wo kabse mehnat karr rhe hai, Ganesh ghar jaa biwi intezar karr rhi hai."( Raju laughed)

​Respect for Amitabh Bachchan

"I was mad for Amitabh Bachchan. I love his films Deewar and Zanzeer. People in my village would call me junior Bachchan. When I grew up I got to know that one must have a self-identity and then I started working hard," he said.

​Funny incident at a private function

Raju laughed hard while narrating the funny incident that happened when he was invited to a private function. He recalled and said, "I went to a private function at a village. There was a very old uncle sitting in the front line of the row and behind him, there was his entire family. His bahus and granddaughters were in Ghungat. I started performing my comedy on the stage and I could only see that they are laughing behind the Ghoongat. People were laughing and the old uncle got up from his seat and shouted at everyone saying, "Tameez nahi tumlog ko? Hass rahe ho? Ek aadmi mumbai se aaya hai, itna durse aaya hai..kuch bata rha hai, uski baat ko samzo. Ussse seekho kuch aur dekho." And the uncle told me, "Sunao beta, tum sunao, Koi nahi hasega ab" (Raju laughs)

​Hilarious incident at home

Raju Srivastava said that his family doesn't believe him whenever he says that he is not feeling well. Reminiscing an incident, Raju said, "I was not feeling well one day. I told my Bhabhi to make very light food because I am not in a mood to eat anything. My Bhabhi asked me, "wo sab chodho pehle ye batao ye acting hai ya sach hai?" And we both started laughing."
