Veteran actor Shankar Rao, who shot to fame for his comic roles, passed away on Monday (October 18) morning. The veteran actor has been reportedly suffering from age-related ailments for a while now. The ace actor reportedly breathed his last around 6:30 AM at his residence in Arekere, Bengaluru. The funeral is likely to be held in Banashankari Chittagram, Bengaluru.

Shankar Rao had his acting roots in theatre. His contribution to the theatre is immense and has been a part of many plays. He was part of the Nataranga troupe since 1973.

The veteran actor is fondly known for his on-screen character 'Boss Balraj' from the iconic show 'Paapa Pandu'. He appeared in both the seasons of Paapa Pandu as Boss Balaraj. The actor shot to fame with the show and became everyone's favorite.

"Well, all I can just think of is the conversations I had with Shankar Rao sir. It will definitely be one of the best memories of my life. He was indeed a cute person on-screen and off-screen as well. He will be truly missed," shared Shalini while speaking to Etimes TV.

Shankar Rao is known as one of the finest comedians of the Kannada entertainment industry. He usually portrayed the role of a comedian in most of the movies and serials he acted in.
