​A look at popular dubbed shows on Kannada TV

Of late, Kannada television is welcoming a few dubbed shows that are creating a buzz on social media. Here is a list of popular Kannada dubbed shows:

​Malgudi Days

Television series 'Malgudi Days', which aired in the mid-1980s is airing it's Kannada dubbed version. The series is adapted from R.K. Narayan’s short stories from his books ‘Malgudi Days’, ‘A Horse and Two Goats’, ‘An Astrologer's Day’ and other short stories, as well as the novels ‘Swami and Friends’, and ‘The Vendor of Sweets’. It is directed by late actor Shankar Nag.

​Ramayana

Hindi mythological show Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan is gearing up for it's Kannada-dubbed version. The show will soon be premiering it's Kannada dubbed version on a leading general entertainment channel shortly. Although the mythological show was first premiered in 1987 on Doordarshan, the craze among the fans remained the same even when the show was set for a re-run amid lockdown. The latest TRP charts are proof of it.

​Mahabharat

Mahabharat, which was aired between 2013 to 2014, is dubbed into Kannada. The serial, which is based on Mahabharat by Vyasa, is the second dubbed Kannada television series to go on air after Malgudi Days.

​Naagin as Naagakannikke

Popular Hindi show Naagin season 2 is dubbed into Kannada as Nagakanikke 2. The show narrates the lives of shape-shifting serpent women. Produced by Ekta Kapoor, the show features Mouni Roy in the lead. The actress plays the role of a serpent woman.

​Nazar as Drushti

Drushti is the dubbed version of popular Hindi show 'Nazar'. The serial is about Mohana and Mridul Rathod who are married and have two children, Ansh and Kajal. Mohana helps Mridul to amass great wealth through black magic, which gradually leads to his premature death. On the other hand, Mohana also kills Mridul’s mother to hide her identity.

Jai Shri Krishna as Devaki Nandana

Hindi mythology series 'Jai Shri Krishna' is being dubbed into Kannada as 'Devaki Nandana'. The serial narrates the story of Lord Krishna starting from his birth, childhood, teenage to becoming the prince of Mathura. The story takes place in different cities like Gokul, Mathura, Hastinapura, and Dwaraka.

Radha Krishna

Radha Kalyana is yet another mythological dubbed into Kannada. The show is based on the mythological characters Radha and Krishna. The show has Mallika Singh and Sumedh Madgelkar in the lead roles.

​Lakshmi stores

Ace actress Khusbhu‘s Tamil soap 'Lakshmi stores', will be aired in Kannada with the same title. Khusbhu plays the role of Mahalakshmi Devaraj, who is the eldest daughter-in-law of Mahalingam and wife of Devaraj. Her character in this serial faces many trials and tribulations in life. How she strives to keep her family happy and fights to save her jewellery store amid societal and economic pressure is the crux of this heartwarming story.
