Ahead of Bigg Boss Kannada 9 launch; here's a quick recap of the previous season

The eighth edition of Bigg Boss Kannada was slated to premiere during the month of October (2020) but got delayed due to the rise in COVID-19 cases in the state. However, the show premiered on 28 February 2021. The season's premiere turned out to be a successful one. Host Kiccha Sudeep welcomed 17 celebs from different walks of life, who entered the BB house as contestants.

Equations between the housemates changed with each passing day. From Nirmala Chenappa and Chandrakala Mohan's fight for kitchen authority to Prashanth Sambargi taking a jibe at Divya Uruduga-Aravind KP's equation, the show has indeed witnessed quite some ugly spats among the contestants.

Just like the previous seasons, the ongoing season of Bigg Boss Kannada has also seen a few link-ups. Manju Pavagad-Divya Suresh to Aravind KP-Divya Uruduga, the growing friendship of these couples became a hot topic of the house and fans on social media as well.

Eventually, the reality show welcomed three wild card entrants in the season. Journalist Chakravarthy Chandrachud, and actresses Vyjayanthi Adiga and Priyanka Thimmesh made a surprise entry into the house as the wild card contestants.

Wild card entrant Vyjayanthi Adiga decided to walk out of the show mid-way. Although it had just been three days since she entered the show as the wild card contestant, the actress quit the show as she was missing her family members and fiance. Vyjayanthi also mentioned that she had a different expectation about Bigg Boss house and the game as a wild card contestant.

For the first time in the history of Bigg Boss Kannada, Sudeep was not able to shoot for the weekend episode due to illness and lockdown in the state. His presence in the weekend episode of Bigg Boss Kannada season 8 was much missed by contestants and fans.

Bigg Boss Kannada season 8 concluded its journey mid-way. The reality show had a successful run of seventy-one days. The makers of Bigg Boss Kannada decided to suspend the eighth edition of the reality show mid-way due to the rapid rise in Coronavirus cases. This decision was taken after K Shivkumar, the chairperson of the Kannada TV association announced that TV shootings will remain stalled until May 24 in the wake of the lockdown imposed by the Karnataka government. Contestants got emotional when they were asked to exit the house one after the other. Starting from the wild card entrant Priyanka Thimmesh to the chirpy actress Shubha Poonja, everyone exited the Bigg Boss house with a heavy heart.

The reality show which came to a standstill mid-way resumed its journey from where it was stalled. It resumed with the same contestants who were inside the house when the show was suspended. In fact, the premiere of the second innings was no less than the season premiere. Kiccha Sudeep was back on the stage taking charge of the hosting duties.

Sandalwood actress Shubha Poonja and Shamanth Bro Gowda were the contestants who got evicted in the double-elimination segment. While Shubha was evicted on a Saturday, Shamanth exited the BB house on Sunday's episode.

Ahead of the grand finale, model-turned-actress Divya Suresh is the latest candidate to get evicted from the glasshouse. Divya got evicted in the mid-week elimination segment.

Here are the top five finalists who have got their tickets to the grand finale - Aravind KP, Vaishnavi, Manju Pavagad, Divya Uruduga, and Prashanth Sambargi.

Manju Pavagada emerged as the winner of Bigg Boss Kannada season 8 while Aravind KP was announced as the runner-up of the season.
