TV actors who quit popular sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah leaving fans shocked and upset

Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has completed 14 years from the time it first aired on the small screen. While the show continues to enjoy great popularity, there are several actors who quit the sitcom leaving fans shocked and mighty upset. Here's taking a look at some of the popular names who are no longer seen on the show.

Shailesh Lodha, who was seen as Taarak Mehta, quit the show, leaving many fans upset. The actor played a pivotal role in the show. While he continues to remain silent about his exit, a source told ETimes TV that Shailesh wanted to explore more opportunities and wasn't able to do so due to the exclusivity factor in his contract. He also felt his dates weren't being used properly.

There were reports last year that suggested Raj Anadkat, who played the role of Tapu, wants to leave the show. He even spoke to the production house about it but they convinced him to continue. However, Raj has not been seen for months on the show. He is busy with his YT channel, music videos and other projects.

Neha Mehta played Shailesh Lodha's reel wife Anjali on the show. While Neha remained discreet about not stating her reason for quitting the show, she did tell BT in an exclusive interview, "I acted in Taarak Mehta as Anjali for 12 years before quitting in 2020. The last six months' money is pending. After I quit the show, I called them a few times regarding my pending dues. I don't like complaining... Hopefully, there will be a solution soon and I will get my hard-earned money."

Gurucharan was loved as Sodhi on the show. He quit around the same time as Neha Mehta. In his exclusive chat with ETimes TV, the actor refrained from talking about his issues with the makers and stated his reasons for quitting the show. He said, "My Dad had undergone a surgery around the time I quit the show. There were a few other things I had to address and life went on. There were a few other reasons I quit but don't want to talk about that."

Just like the rest of the cast, Monika Bhadoriya, who played the role of Bawri - Baga's love interest, did not choose to talk about why she left the show. She went missing from the sitcom and told us, "Yes, I have left the show. It's been more than two months since I quit. I will miss the character a lot since I moulded it my way." She added, "I have left Taarak on an amicable note."

Disha Vakani went on a maternity leave in 2017 but never returned. The actress, who is known for playing the role of Dayaben, also had her second child this year. While the makers waited for long for her return, they have now started to audition for the part she played. No one has been finalised for it yet though.

Nidhi was much loved as Sonu in Taarak but she quit the sitcom to focus on her studies. She had joined Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah in 2012 and essayed the part for a good 6 years. Earlier, the role was played by Jheel Mehta who had left the show for the same reasons. Nidhi is currently busy with her travel vlogs. Her role is now played by Palak Sindhwani.
