Mirabai Chanu has won the silver medal in the women's 49kg category. This is India's second weightlifting medal at the Olympics overall, after Karnam Malleswari, who won the bronze at the 2000 Sydney Olympics.

Soon after her win, ‘Proud moment’ started trending on Twitter. It is indeed a proud moment for the country. Post her winning moment, Mirabai Chanu said, “I am very happy, I have been dreaming of this for the past five years. I am very proud of myself right now. I did try for gold but even silver is a great achievement for me. I am very happy to win the first medal for India at these Games. I don't just belong to Manipur, I belong to the whole country.”

Tokyo 2020 Olympics kickstarted yesterday (July 23) with much zeal.
