Throwback to when Ankita Lokhande opened up about playing roles that inspire her, ‘I want to do every kind of role that motivates me’
Ankita Lokhande has always taken her time in making a career choice. From her rise to fame on television to her influential roles in films, she has built her journey with patience. In an old interview, Ankita talked openly about her approach towards her work. She expressed her love for playing strong characters. However, she also mentioned a growing wish to take on lighter, more personal roles. These roles would allow the audience to see the real person behind her intense performances.

Ankita Lokhande on what drives her project choices

In an earlier interview with us, while promoting ‘Swatantra Veer Savarkar,’ she shared a deeply personal insight into how she chooses her roles. She explained, “You know, I want to do every kind of role that motivates me and inspires other people to see. And I want to, so I have been doing very strong roles, of course. But now I want to do something really lighthearted and, you know, very nice where I can be myself.”

Ankita also recognized that showing real-life and historically important characters takes a lot of work and emotional commitment. Speaking about such roles, she said, “In this kind of role, you have to put a lot of effort and input and, you know, a lot of energy into it because you are portraying big names like Yamuna Bai, which comes with a lot of responsibility.”

Wanting audiences to see her beyond intense roles

She remains proud of her strong performances. But Ankita made it clear that she didn’t want to be boxed into one space forever. She expressed a clear desire to explore roles closer to her own personality, saying, “And now I think I should just do something that is more of me, very lighthearted, and where people can see me as Ankita.”In the same interview, she also opened up about walking her own path, without forcing transitions. Ankita has often been cited as one of the few television actors who successfully transitioned into films. Yet, she never saw it as a calculated move. “I was just walking on my path; whatever used to come my way, I used to take that thing with… my whole passion. I never forced myself to be on this side.”

Ankita Lokhande’s current work front

On the current work front, Ankita was last seen alongside her husband, Vicky Jain, on the reality show ‘Laughter Chefs Season 2.’ She is currently away from the small screen. Audiences saw a lighter, more playful side of her personality on the show.
