The Kapil Sharma Show: Mahabharat's Puneet Issar aka Duryodhan reveals that a non-bailable warrant was issued against them for 'cheerharan' scene

The episode of The Kapil Sharma Show starts with the team of TKSS discussing how they plan to welcome the cast of Mahabharat and make everyone laugh out loud. Mahabharat actors Gufi Paintal, Puneet Issar, Gajendra Chauhan, Feroz Khan aka Arjun enter the show on a rath (chariot). Kapil welcomes them warmly and soon actor Nitish Bharadwaj aka Lord Krishna joins the cast on stage. Kapil is thrilled to welcome the Mahabharat cast and excitedly shared that when the mythological show aired it was watched on 92 percent television screens in the country according to a survey. Kapil then talks to Gufi Paintal who played Shakuni mama and he reveals that the casting of the show took two years. Gufi was also the casting director of the show.

Nitish Bharadwaj reveals the story behind his casting and he shared how he had studied all the religious books since childhood and that helped him bag the role. When he went to meet the makers he shared his knowledge about the upanishads and the makers were impressed. He also added that he feels that he was destined to play the role. Gufi Paintal shares that Late Ravi Chopra who was the director of the show found Nitish's eyes talkative and very expressive. Hence, they cast him for Lord Krishna's role.

Arjun aka Feroz Khan narrated the story behind changing his name to Arjun. He told Kapil Sharma that whenever he called any filmmaker for work they mistook him for actor-filmmaker Feroz Khan. Later on Pandit Narendra Sharma and Rahi Masoom Raza's suggestion he changed his name to Arjun the character he played in Mahabharat.

Puneet Isaar shared how after Coolie's action sequence where Amitabh Bachchan met with a fatal accident everyone saw him only in action roles. When he went to meet Ravi Chopra, he finalised him for Bheem's role looking at his physique, but Puneet insisted on doing Duryodhan's role. He had read Upanyas and knew it by heart, he impressed the makers by reciting it and they gave him Duryodhan's role.

Puneet Issar narrated a funny incident when while they were shooting in Jaipur a big industrialist called the entire cast for dinner. The ladies of the house were serving food to the guests but because of his role of Duryodhan, the ladies of the house refused to serve him food and instead he was served food by the cook. He also told Kapil that the ladies called Roopa Ganguly inside and whispered in her ears and asked her why she was sitting beside the evil Duryodhan.

Gufi Paintal narrated a hilarious incident. He shared that those days since social media was not there they would get lots of letters from the fans. One such fan letter criticised him for cheerharan, instigating Duryodhan and threatened him aka Shakuni mama to stop the war by next week otherwise they would break his other leg. Hearing this every one burst into laughter.

Puneet Issar shared how a non-bailable warrant was issued against them. He shared 30 years ago, once he was driving, a police van came and asked him to stop. At first he thought he would have jumped a signal but the police officer told him that a non-bailable warrant was issued against them. He told Kapil that a case was registered against him, Gufi Paintal, Narendra Sharma, Rahi Massom Raza, BR Chopra because of the cheerharan scene. They were shocked, BR Chopra hired lawyers and things were sorted, but 28 years later they were once again summoned in the same case. And a warrant was issued against them. As BR Chopra, Ravi Chopra, Narendra Sharma, Rahi Masoom Raza are no more, Puneet, Gufi had to hire a lawyer and sort out the case. When they went to Varanasi for the case, the person who had filed a complaint told them he just wanted a picture with them.

The cast members and Renu Ravi Chopra revealed Puneet Issar's love for food. Gajendra Chauhan revealed a funny incident from shooting. He narrated that everyone knew that Puneet loved food and used to eat the maximum. Once Virendra Razdan, who played Vidur, decided to eat the food first and ate all the non-veg items and there was hardly anything left for Puneet. Pankaj Dheer, who is close friends with Puneet, decided to engage him in a conversation on Kashmir as he was from there. Virendra got emotional and taking advantage of the situation, Puneet took all the non-veg items from his plate and replaced it with brinjal. Renu Ravi Chopra shared that her cooks would get scared when Puneet would visit their house for rehearsals on Sundays as he would eat 10 rotis. Kapil, Archana and everyone were left into splits of laughter after hearing the incident.

Nitish Bharadwaj revealed that he is a veterinary doctor and has worked as an assistant at Pune and Mumbai race courses before becoming an actor and so it was easy for him to work with the horses.

Puneet shared an incident when 7 to 8 actors from the cast had taken money in advance to go for a show in Delhi and Ravi Chopra got angry and refused to release them. He shared that all the actors appeared on the sets before time and were ready with makeup and their lines but Ravi Chopra refused to let them go when Pankaj Dheer asked for permission. He told Pankaj that the discipline of the sets was going for a toss. When Puneet heard the news about the refusal, he got angry with Pankaj and started yelling at him saying that he shouldn't have asked Ravi ji. He was so angry at that time that he told Pankaj that he would not keep Ravi ji as an assistant. While Puneet was saying this he was not aware that Ravi Chopra was hearing it. When he turned and saw Ravi Chopra standing, he sat on the ground and beat himself that he was foolish and he even took out his shoes and started beating himself. Ravi chopra burst into laughter and gave them permission to go for the show.
