Single parenting to my little daughter is my reality and I have accepted it: Juhi Parmar

Actress Juhi Parmar recently made a comeback to screens with her new show Tantra. The actress in an exclusive tete a tete with TimesofIndia.com, spoke about her new character and life juggling between work and her little daughter Samaira. She also spoke about her new real life role as a single mother. Photo- Instagram. By- Rasika Deshpande.

You are going to be seen in a supernatural genre show for the very first time. How excited/nervous are you for the same?

I am extremely excited because as a viewer I enjoy content that keeps you at the edge of the seat, intrigues you and keeps you wanting more. So Tantra is going to be setting a different benchmark all together in this genre. In fact, I love watching horror and supernatural films and shows so I am extremely excited. Photo- Instagram.

What made you take up a show like Tantra?

Tantra for me was an easy choice to make because my character has a great graph. From the relationships she shares with each member, to actually being the one who binds the family together. Sumita is someone who is extremely relatable and yet a character which I haven't played in the past. The genre is a first for me and the production house, of course, is like family as my last show 'Shani' was also with them. Photo- Instagram.

In this day and age do you think such concepts like Black Magic and a bad eye still exist? How much do you believe in such beliefs?

I think everyone believes in some sort of negative energy. The evil eye pendants, bracelets, etc are a worldwide phenomenon. I do believe that we all have vibes and the energies that surround us can make a difference. Photo- Instagram.

You are going to be portraying the role of a young mother on screen, how are you prepping up for that? Tell us a bit more about your role?

Yes, in fact, a lot of people are telling me that I'm looking too young to play a mother! I am taking that as a compliment. Honestly, there was so much more to this role than just being a 'mother'. In Shani, for example, there wasn't a female face in the show for almost its entire run and though I was playing a mother, I was also the strongest female character on the show. And looking at my character in Shani, a 'mother' is just one relationship which she had as there were many facets to the character which made it all the more interesting for me to play. I experimented with negative shades for the first time as well as played a double role, which is a rare opportunity for an actor to get all in one show. In Tantra as well, Sumati's character and the challenges she has faced in the past and the obstacles coming up make it such an interesting graph for an actor to play. Photo- InstagrAM.

The supernatural genre has really opened up a lot of doors on the small screen. What do you feel the response to Tantra will be?

I am hoping for a great response! At the end of the day as an actor, we put in our 500% and the rest, of course, depends on the audience. However, Tantra is a show which shall appeal to both the rural as well as the urban audience, which is rare on Indian Television. It's doing well right now and we have phases in our industry. Each genre exists and there is space between so many channels and the length of prime time for all sorts of content to co-exist. And now the web domain has further stretched the boundaries of content creation and consumption. Photo- Instagram.

How excited is Samairra to see you back on screen?

Samairra totally loves watching her mamma on screen. She loved Shani, and loves watching Kumkum too. She is extremely excited to watch Tantra as well. But since she is very young at the moment, I might have to make some excuses for her to not watch Tantra this time. Though she is always thrilled to watch me. Photo- Instragm.

Lastly, how have you taken on your role as a single parent?

You should be telling me? I have been blogging about parenting and I think while single parenting has its challenges, that's my reality and I've accepted it and am managing the multitasking. Like I said earlier I do have a strong support system which keeps me going. Photo- Instagram.

Marry then divorce and then have multiple partners and then make the kid father less and brag about modern women etc and media praises such women..no one even cares how the father feels whose child is taken away from him.
