From fat to fit

Rohit, 51, posted a collage of his before and after picture on Instagram recently and talking about his transformation journey, Rohit told us, “It started about a year ago. I have always been a healthy person and honestly because of my height and personality and the clothes that I wear, people didn’t know I had put on weight. I was directing a film, so I kind of let myself lose and didn’t pay much attention to it. But one morning I suddenly realised that I needed to change my attitude and mindset towards fitness. Even my mother said I need to lose some weight. So, I decided to embrace a healthy lifestyle.”

Motivation

Rohit continued saying, “I had a conversation with Salman (Khan) and he said that we all go through some phases in life, but the tough guys don’t give in, they build themselves and emerge even tougher than before. That’s when I got back into fitness.”

4/10

Diet and exercise

Speaking about his dietary routine and workout process, the actor added, “I think it’s not just about starting to go to the gym but more about what your diet is. We are what we are because of what goes into our body. I started eating six meals a day, properly balanced meals. I don’t believe in vegan and keto or other diets, for me it is a balanced Indian meal. I think you just have to be dedicated to it. I committed myself to proper workout and made sure I never missed it. As time progressed I started enjoying it and it became a part of my system.”

5/10

Changing body type for certain roles

Rohit spoke about changing body types according to certain roles and he said, “Of course I’m open to the idea of moulding by body according to the role being offered to me. I worked on my health and fitness to feel good, not just to build my body. For me it was more about becoming mentally strong and I did that, so now I know that I can do it. If you have the right mindset, you can do anything. I have also given up on alcohol and fat.”

6/10

On feeling empowered

We asked if he feels empowered now that he has a fit body and healthy lifestyle and he quipped, “It’s not just about my body and lifestyle that makes me feel empowered, but the feeling that I’m able to inspire a lot of young people out there is more empowering. It’s also a responsibility for me to keep going on. It is not a good body that empowers a person, that’s just a physical aspect, but when I see comments of young people getting inspired by my journey, that’s what makes me more happy.”

7/10

On playing Vardhaan in Sanjivani 2

Now that Sanjivani 2 is going off air, Rohit spoke about bidding goodbye to the show and his character. Rohit said, “Vardhan is definitely one of the iconic roles I have played after Swabhimaan. It took me 25 long years to play yet another iconic character like this.”

8/10

On completing 25 years in the industry

The actor completed 25 years in the industry. Speaking about the same the actor said, "Well, Swabhimaan released in April 1995 and now it has been 25 years in the industry. It’s not just about looking the age, but feeling the age. I have a positive outlook towards life. Everybody has struggles in life, but I don’t like to talk about it much.”

9/10

Views on nepotism

Voicing his opinion about the age old debate of nepotism, Rohit said, “I don’t understand the debate at all. There is nothing wrong with nepotism. If my father belonged to the industry and I would have had an extra edge, I would gladly use it. Everybody has their own struggles. Me and my brother Ronit (Roy), we have also had our share of struggles to make it big here.”

10/10

Upcoming projects

Talking about his upcoming projects, Rohit shared, “My next project is a gangster drama. It has a stellar cast and I have an interesting part to play.”
