Rhea Chakraborty to return with Roadies 19; a look at her controversial personal and professional life

Rhea Chakraborty is set to return to TV with Roadies 19. The actress, who had been lying low post her beau Sushant Singh Rajput's suicide in 2020, has not had it easy in showbiz. Here's taking a look at some of the past controversies that engulfed her and created quite a storm in her life.

In the past, Rhea created quite a stir after she wished filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt on his birthday with a series of photos which the internet deemed inappropriate. Some even compared the two to Bigg Boss 12 couple Jasleen Matharu and Anup Jalota. It made Rhea hit back and write, "Tu kaun hain, Tera naam hai kya? Seeta bhi yahaan badnaam hui ! If the trolls can hurl muck and filth of their minds, which comes out of their depraved souls, then all our claims of having moved away from the dark ages are bogus. Go enjoy your sickness."

After the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, Rhea, who was his live-in-partner, was accused for abetement of suicide by the late actor's family. His father's FIR mentioned that Sushant's sister learnt from him that Rhea was threatening to make his medical receipts public, declare him mad and frame him for his secretary's suicide. Besides, she was also 'booked for unlawfully confining Sushant and criminal breach of trust'.

A money laundering case was lodged by the Enforcement Director against Rhea and her family after Sushant Singh Rajput's father alleged a fraud of Rs 15 crore in his FIR. Sushant's father KK Singh said, "In 2019, Sushant had Rs 17 crore in his account but within months Rs 15 crore was transferred to the accounts not linked to him. It should be investigated how much of that money has been defrauded by Rhea and her associates."

The anti-drugs agency alleged that Rhea got multiple deliveries of marijuana from the co-accused. Her brother Showik was in touch with peddlers and procured packets which were given to Rajput. Rhea was arrested in September, 2020. After being kept in judicial remand till October, she was granted bail by the Bombay High Court.

Just a few months after SSR's death, Rhea became the target of a hate campaign that was launched online. Several slammed her for being a 'manipulative' woman who did 'black magic'. There was online abuse and she received rape and death threats. This led her to seek help from the cyber crime police. Even her court visits were hounded by media persons, making her request for police protection.

In the past three years, Rhea was off work barring a few projects. She made only a few public appearances and was spotted at friend Shibani Dandekar's wedding where she posed for the paps. Shibani, her sister Anusha, Krishna Shroff are some of the celebs who stood by her in tough times.

Rhea is now going to be seen in the hit TV show, Roadies. She is all set to be part of the 19th season as a gang leader. The promo saw her declaring, "Aapko kya laga mein wapas nahi aaungi, darr jaungi...darne ki baari kisi aur ki hai. Milte hani auditions pe (What did you think...I won't return, I'd be scared? This time it's time for others to feel scared. See you at the auditions)."
