Payal Rohatgi-Sangram Singh to Dipika Kakar-Shoaib Ibrahim; TV celebs who proposed marriage to their partners on reality shows

Reality shows have become a platform for the expression of multiple emotions. From secret revelations to love confessions, a lot has been seen on various shows over the years. Moreover, many celebrities have made the life-long decision of marriage during their stint on reality shows. Recently, Lock Upp’s Payal Rohatgi received a marriage proposal from her fiance Sangram Singh. The telly world has seen a few more such marriage proposals on national TV. Who are they? Lock Upp’s Payal Rohatgi opened up about her 12-year-long relationship with Sangram Singh quite a few times during her journey. At times of meltdown, she even revealed the reasons behind them not being able to get married. Following this, Sangram decided to marry her soon after her journey on the show ends. While he had made a statement about the same in public, Payal was least aware of it. Sangram Singh entered Lock Upp during the ongoing family week and broke the news to Payal. After have a normal conversation with her, Sangram kept his proposal in front of Payal in a unique style. He said, “Payal ismein se aadhe ladke waalon ke taraf se aayenge, aur aadhe ladki waalon ke taraf se aayenge....Ye fatafat khatam kar lo, phir hum shaadi karenge. Itni dhakkad, strong, independent aur itni majboot ladki ko bhaiya main chodna nahi chahta.. main iske saath puri zindagi lock in hona chahta hoon..” Payal, who was utterly shocked by his gesture, asked Sangram if he is sure before saying yes.

Bade Acche Lagte Hain 2’s Priya aka actress Disha Parmar got a proposal that is a dream of many girls. Rahul Vaidya realised his feelings for his then best friend during his Bigg Boss 14 journey. On Disha’s birthday, he went down on his knee and proposed marriage to her in a filmy manner on the show. Rahul confessed his love for Disha on national TV and said, ‘Marry Me’, the same was written on his t-shirt too. While he waited for her response until almost the last few weeks on the show, their wedding preparations had already begun outside. Later, Disha entered the show to meet Rahul on Valentine’s Day and said ‘yes’. Rahul and Disha then tied the knot in July 2021.

Currently, a part of Smart Jodi, Monalisa and Vikrant’s proposal wasn’t the only thing that fans witnessed on the small screen. They got to see the jodi get married on national TV too. It was during Monalisa’s Bigg Boss 10 journey that Vikrant decided to make a surprising entry on the show. The actress was asked to go in the activity area of the BB house, which was romantically lit up while Vikrant waited for her there. He went down on his knee with a ring in his hand as soon as she entered and proposed marriage. A delighted Monalisa said yes and the couple got married in an extended wedding ceremony on the show itself.

Dipika Kakar and Shoaib Ibrahim are happily married for years now. Their on-screen proposal moment was another most adorable moment seen on TV. Dipika and Shoaib participated in Nach Baliye 8 and the world witnessed their heartfelt proposal during the show. It was after one of their performances on the show that Shoaib surprised Dipika as he went down on his knee with a ring. “Bilkul pareshaan nahi karungi, hamesha khush rakhunga, hamesha pyaar karunga,” he said as he proposed. Dipika couldn’t stop blushing and even got emotional as she accepted the ring and proposal. Only a few months after the show, they got married in Shoaib’s hometown.

Sargun and Ravi’s proposal was also on the stage of Nach Baliye, during its fifth season. Ravi planned a proposal like no other for Sargun. After their performance, he disappeared from Sargun’s sight and soon a video played wherein he was seen asking for Sargun’s hand from her father. As he joined her back on stage, he even called both their parents there too. Ravi then went down on his knee and proposed to Sargun, who was too nervous to say yes and said ‘ok’ instead. Both their parents gave a nod to their relationship and marriage while on stage. Ravi and Sargun tied the knot in December in the same year.

Another couple, who experienced this blissful moment on Nach Baliye’s stage is Sanam Johar ad Abigail Pandey. However, theirs is a different story altogether. When it comes to this couple, it wasn’t Sanam who went down on his knee to propose to Abigail but the other way round. Abigail planned a beautiful proposal for Sanam wherein she offered him few roses each with a special promise. With the last rose she promised to be a friend to Sanam’s mother and not just a daughter-in-law. Abigail went down and offered him a ring, Sanam who was extremely emotional at the moment accepted it. This heartwarming proposal made everyone on the Nach Baliye sets go in awe of them. Sanam and Abigail have been in a relationship for years now. The two were planning to get married in 2021, which couldn’t get executed due to the pandemic. Fans are eagerly waiting to see them exchange wedding vows for all these years.
