Gauahar Khan and Zaid Darbar on their love language, checking each other’s phone, jealousy and more

In a candid new vlog, actress Gauahar Khan and her husband, choreographer Zaid Darbar, opened up about their relationship dynamics, love language, and personal philosophies, offering fans an intimate glimpse into their journey as they prepare for parenthood. The soon-to-be parents spoke about handling challenges together, building trust, dealing with public perceptions, and embracing growth as individuals. From Zaid’s philosophy on peace and maturity to Gauahar’s admiration for his thoughtful gestures, the conversation reflected their unique bond.

Zaid on never being jealous

Zaid began the conversation by sharing his perspective on jealousy, a topic many couples struggle with. He said, “I am not jealous of anybody. I don’t want to be a philosopher here, but I don’t have that feeling. I am very happy that I have a wife, my father, my brother, my friends. I feel proud. I am doing a good job, I feel good. Allah gives me peace. That is very important. People who hurt me, I am happy for them also. I am never jealous. I don’t have the word jealous.” His words reflected his belief in peace and contentment rather than comparison or envy.

Zaid on the timing of their marriage

Reflecting on when they tied the knot, Zaid emphasized the importance of destiny. He shared, “I understand one thing — the timing that God sets, we don’t understand it. But it is good to understand it, because what God sets is best for us. So I think that date and timing was best for us. If I say about myself, do I regret marrying late? I would say no. These things are not in our hands. You know how it is, I agree.” Zaid’s words highlighted his deep faith in divine timing, showing that he believes their union came at the perfect moment in their lives, even if it wasn’t “early” by conventional standards.

Gauahar on Zaid’s love language

Gauahar expressed admiration for the small, thoughtful ways her husband shows love. She said, “You have other ways of showing affection. Very sweet things that he has done for me before marriage and even now. Especially when we travel, first he will make sure that I have my green tea ready. And that is the love language that he follows. He will set the bag, toiletry kit… so he has always done that. I didn’t think any man would be able to do that. Mostly they do it for themselves. But this is your way of taking care.” Her words showed that she values consistency, kindness, and the everyday acts of care that make their relationship stronger.

On Zaid being more patient now

The couple also reflected on how marriage has helped Zaid grow as a person. Zaid admitted, “I used to get angry. You know how it was — in everything I used to abuse. Now I calm you down. Generally also, you are sitting in the car, you are saying something, though nobody is listening to you. But evolving is the word. You don’t have to change anything; you just have to do what you are doing generally. Maybe you just have to adjust for your good. Because you get more stressed by answering somebody.” His reflection revealed how relationships encourage growth. Zaid’s journey from anger to patience symbolizes the maturity he has developed in nurturing both himself and his marriage.

6/9

On checking each other’s phones

The couple also addressed a common curiosity about trust. Zaid clarified, “We don’t check our phones. Honestly, you will get the feeling of checking when you should. I think I should check her phone, something is wrong. Our phones are in each other’s bags sometimes. Your phone is always with me, my phone I leave and go. But we have never checked each other’s phone.” Their openness highlighted the mutual respect and trust that defines their bond. Even though they share access, suspicion has never been part of their relationship.

7/9

On Gauahar expecting Zaid to be older

Gauahar fondly remembered a moment when Zaid surprised her with maturity far beyond his years. Recalling the time after her father’s passing, she said, “In a lot of ways you have been extreme. I didn’t expect so much maturity. When I lost papa, I didn’t know you will handle me in the way that you did. I didn’t have any expectation because we got married after 2 months my father passed away. But the way you handled me… I still remember one thing. I saw papa when I came down, and then I went back up to do the dua. I knew he will take me now. But you came from nowhere, even though you had only taken me down. You came up, you didn’t see anyone else, you were just looking for me. You held my hand and took me down. I remember that moment in my head. It just stays. Because that you would expect from somebody who is 5–6 years older than you. But the way you handled that whole situation with my father… it never comes to my mind that you are younger.” Her heartfelt memory reflected the depth of Zaid’s support and maturity, which left a lasting mark on her.

8/9

Zaid on his parents’ separation

Speaking about a personal chapter in his life, Zaid said, “I feel that whatever happens, happens for good. But of course it is easy to say, to bear it and take it forward and where to keep it in your life… it is very difficult to understand. It remains a difficult part in your body which you don’t want to share with anyone. On camera you just try to say that this happened. But the realistic feel you can’t explain it to anyone. You can talk about it, but you can’t explain the feeling. And it still happens.”

9/9

Their first impressions of each other

Finally, the couple reminisced about their first meeting. Zaid said with a smile, “Wow, tall girl. Yes, butterflies. Very mature. Butterflies. I found you sensible.” Gauahar responded, “Yes, true. My first impression of you was the smile. Looking at the side… the subtle, honest smile. I was like, he is cute, what happened here?” Their sweet exchange reflected the spark that brought them together — an instant connection filled with charm, simplicity, and sincerity.
