Pardeep Singh Toor: I chose passion over money and left the job to pursue acting full-time
Actor Pardeep Singh Toor, currently seen as Mangal in Kyunki Rishton Ke Bhi Roop Badalte Hai, the spin-off of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2, has taken an unconventional path to the entertainment industry. Before stepping in front of the camera, Toor was deeply rooted in the world of agriculture and scientific research.
An agriculturist and plant breeder by qualification, Toor studied at Punjab Agricultural University, earning a B.Sc. in Agriculture followed by a postgraduate degree in Plant Breeding and Genetics. “To be honest, my journey has been a beautiful evolution,” Toor says. “Growing up, I was always deeply connected to nature, plants, and animals, which naturally led me toward agricultural sciences.”
However, life took an unexpected turn during his college years. “My friends pushed me into modelling because of my screen presence and the photos I used to post on social media. What started as a few small gigs gradually turned into bigger opportunities,” he recalls. Participating in Mr India Chandigarh and the Punjabi show Nedar became turning points that boosted his confidence and introduced him to the world of entertainment.
The biggest decision came when he secured a government job as a Field Officer. “I found myself at a crossroads. I had a secure career ahead of me, but my heart was pulling me towards acting. Eventually, I chose passion over pay and left the job to pursue acting full-time,” he shares.
His acting career later expanded through Punjabi shows like Tedha Medha Sadda Vedha and Dildaariyan, before moving to national television with projects including Tu Juliet Jatt Di, Kumkum Bhagya, and Jurm Aur Jazbaat. “One opportunity led to another, and that’s how I found my true calling in front of the camera,” he concludes.
