Koffee With Karan 6: Bhumi Pednekar and RajkummarRao groove with Karan Johar

Bollywood's young stars Bhumi Pednekar and Rajkummar Rao made their first appearance on Koffee With Karan 6 yesterday (December 27). While the former was dressed in a black dress, the latter sported a white suit. Host Karan Johar started the show by requesting the two to dance on 'Chhaiya Chhaiya', a popular song from Dil Se. This made all the three feel energized and they took their seats to begin chatting.

Fan requests Bhumi to play a rich girl

In the first segment itself, Karan asked Bhumi when she will play a rich girl in a film, which was a question sent to him by one of her fans on Twitter. Bhumi told him she was dying to. She also revealed how people think she cannot speak English, thanks to the characters she has portrayed on-screen. She shared how they are almost stunned when they see her in a glam avatar and slimmer than usual. She told Karan, however, she is happy that she has been able to play the roles convincingly.

Casting director days

Karan shared with the audience how Bhumi began her career as a casting director. And then shifted gears. There's an audition video of hers that was also played on screen. Bhumi told Karan how she was 86 kgs when she was cast in her debut film and gained 10 more when they began shooting.

Rajkummar shares he loves acting, not money

Karan teased Rajkummar by asking him if his new found fame would lead him to charge insane amount of money from the producers. Rajkummar, very sincerely, pointed out that his first love was acting and he was greedy only for good roles. Also, he preferred to be an artist who did everything than be in the league of big stars like Ranveer Singh, Ranbir Kapoor and others.

Rajkummar on his relationship with Patralekhaa

It's no secret that Rajkummar Rao is dating actress Patralekhaa. When Karan asked him why he wasn't getting married to her even after 9 years of relationship, Rajkummar said that he was not ready. He shared they are in a happy space and have their parents' nod. But they are not in a rush and busy with their respective careers. Karan prodded him further and asked if Patralekhaa ever felt insecure with his success and the girls, Rajkummar told Karan that Patralekhaa was very broad-minded. They are best friends first and love to do everything together. He shared, "It’s not about those lovey-dovey talks. It’s about discussing everything in life."

Rajkummar and Bhumi's take on nepotism

While Bhumi told Karan she has been accepted in the film industry whole-heartedly, and there's a lot of love she has received from everyone for her films, Rajkummar said that even after his initial success, he wasn't given any work or even noticed. He felt as an insider, things would have been different and people would have pushed him. Barring that he shared everything else wasn't as bad.

Bhumi picks out Disha Patani's audition as bad

When Karan asked Bhumi about actors whose auditions she didn't like as a casting director, Bhumi shared she felt Disha Patani wasn't up to the mark in hers. She picked Parineeti's as the best. She told Karan how Parineeti was very spontaneous, and played the part well. Talking about her debut film, Bhumi called Ayushmann strong for picking her up when she weighed 94 kgs. She called him a true Roadie.

Bhumi's rapid fire

Bhumi shared, in her rapid fire round, her gulity pleasure was looking at her 'before and after' pictures. She said she felt a star when people recognised her as 'Toilet Ki Bhumi'. Bhumi expressed her desire to work with Sanjay Leela Bhansali. She accepted she had a crush on her co-actors including Akshay Kumar, and regretted some of her casting decisions. She revealed she stalks Ameesha Patel online and finds Aditya Roy Kapur cute. She also said she wanted to steal Nick Jonas for a boyfriend/husband, considered Parineeti as a threat and liked Alia Bhatt as an actor over others.

Rajkummar's rapid fire

Rajkummar revealed shopping was his guilty pleasure. He chose Deepika Padukone for a dinner date and shared how he hated film promotions. He revealed Mr Anil Kapoor was a perfectionist and never satisfied with one take. Rajkummar said he felt intimidated by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and also had a secret crush on her when he saw her for the first time. He also was in awe of Shah Rukh Khan's king size life and Alia Bhatt's acting. It was eventually Bhumi who won the hamper.

Gaming round

Rajkummar was clearly better in every department in the gaming round. From dancing to guessing the names, he managed to outdo Bhumi. He also got more industry friends over the phone than Bhumi to say 'Hi' to Karan. In the end, both eventually won something on the chat show.
