From opening up about the pain of her past miscarriage to announcing their pregnancy via surrogacy, Sambhavna Seth and Avinash Dwivedi reveal their heartfelt journey

Actress Sambhavna Seth, who has often spoken about undergoing seven painful IVF procedures and experiencing a miscarriage in the past, recently announced her pregnancy via surrogacy on social media. She and her husband, Avinash Dwivedi, also shared a vlog on their YouTube channel, where they spoke about their challenging journey. From failed IVF attempts, miscarriage, and the reason behind choosing surrogacy, the couple poured their heart out. (Photo: Instagram)

Avinash and Sambhavna on moving to a new house

We are shooting this vlog in this room. There’s a temple here, and it has a very positive energy. We truly feel that God has listened to our prayers, so we wanted to make this announcement from this space. Now you’ll understand everything—why we moved to a new house, why we wanted a bigger place, and why we were making certain decisions. Many of you had questions, but we couldn’t answer them earlier because of everything we had been through. We didn’t want to take any risks this time. We decided to make this vlog and share the news with you. (Photo: Instagram)

Avinash: Even before our wedding, we had taken a step forward by freezing eggs and preserving embryos

We got married in 2016, and this July 14 marks 10 years of our marriage. Over this entire journey, we have genuinely given our best while trying to build a family. In the early years, we didn’t openly share that we were trying. In fact, even before our wedding, we had taken a step forward by freezing eggs and preserving embryos. Some of our attempts were visible to you, while many others remained private and, unfortunately, didn’t succeed. That’s why this moment feels incredibly special and emotional for us. Avinash: During our previous attempt, we carried a lot of fear within us

There’s a different kind of happiness and excitement when something you have hoped for so long finally starts to feel possible. To be honest, during our previous attempt, we carried a lot of fear within us—the fear that things might not go right. But this time, we consciously let go of that negativity. We moved ahead with complete faith and positivity, creating an environment filled with hope. We chose to embrace a positive energy. (Photo: Instagram)

Avinash: On Sambhavna suffering a miscarriage two years ago

If I go back and explain everything from the beginning—two years ago, in December, Sambhavna was three months pregnant, but sadly, we faced a miscarriage. After that, we made a conscious decision to step away from everything. We told ourselves we wouldn’t overthink it, wouldn’t force anything, and would simply give ourselves time—at least six months—to heal and not focus on trying again. We wanted that break to figure things out calmly later—whether we should try again, when the right time would be, and what process we should follow. At one point, Avinash even said that we shouldn’t continue trying anymore. (Photo: Instagram)

Avinash: Doctors had already made it clear that another pregnancy could affect Sambhavna’s health

The doctors had already made it clear that pursuing another pregnancy could affect Sambhavna’s health, and despite multiple attempts, the chances of success were still uncertain. After everything we had gone through, it felt like there were hardly any options left. As a husband, all I could do was be there—listen, support, and understand her pain. But the truth is, the person going through it feels it the most. And I didn’t want her to endure that kind of pain again, no matter what the future held. (Photo: Instagram)

Tarot card reader suggested to opt for surrogacy

After those six months, we went for a tarot card reading and even recorded a video that day. During the session, when the cards were revealed, they indicated something quite surprising—that the possibility of having a baby would come true in 2026. At that moment, we were still in 2025, so it felt a little far away. The tarot reader, confidently said that it would definitely happen, and she even mentioned a specific month. What feels even more unbelievable now is that things are unfolding exactly in that same month, just as she had predicted. (Photo: Instagram)

Sambhavna: My arthritis had worsened

We were also told that if we tried IVF again, things could get even more difficult than before. There was no clear reassurance about a successful outcome, and on top of that, my arthritis had worsened—you all already know I’ve been dealing with that. So physically and emotionally, it felt like a very tough path to take again. At that point, the tarot card reader suggested that if we still wanted to try, we should consider surrogacy instead. We had considered it earlier, but surrogacy was either stopped in India or the rules had changed at that time. Then something unexpected happened. I received a call from my doctor. She said she wanted to give it her best and genuinely wished for us to have a baby. (Photo: Instagram)

Sambhavna and Avinash on how they opted for surrogacy

Our doctor had been part of our journey for a long time—she had seen our struggles, the failed attempts, and even my lowest moments. This time, she asked us to gather all our medical reports and meet her, saying that if there was any possibility, we would explore it—especially the option of surrogacy. We decided that we would at least apply and give it one honest try. The first step was to see whether we were even eligible as per government rules, especially since surrogacy laws had become very strict due to past misuse. That’s also the reason we couldn’t pursue it earlier. (Photo: Instagram)

Legal procedure for surrogacy

Sambhavna: This time, the process wasn’t simple at all. It involved extensive legal formalities and documentation—you can’t just decide and move ahead. In the first three months, we were constantly going through paperwork, court visits, signing documents, submitting files, and appearing in person wherever required. It was a long and exhausting process. Finally, the day we got the call that our application had been approved—it felt surreal. (Photo: Instagram)

Informing Avinash about pregnancy

I remember reading the confirmation and calling him immediately. As soon as he came, I told him, “It’s done.” And in that moment, we both felt a sense of relief. It felt like we had crossed the biggest hurdle and that our real journey was finally about to begin. Soon after, the embryo transfer was performed. Around 15–17 days later, the blood test results came in. I got a call from the doctor—and she said, “You’re pregnant. (Photo: Instagram)

Nearing the due date

We also want to share that we are now very close to the delivery. Every single month, we would keep asking the doctor if we could finally tell everyone—at four months, five months, six months… we kept waiting for the right moment and her approval. Even after crossing six months, we were still holding back. Then came seven months, and we were still asking, “Can we share it now?” And now, here we are—past seven, almost seven and a half months into the journey. So yes, we’re finally nearing the most special moment. (Photo: Instagram)

Pregnancy photoshoot

Today finally feels like the right moment to share this with all of you. The last time I was pregnant, we had already prepared everything—we even planned a complete announcement photoshoot. We had thought about how we would reveal the news and captured those special moments beautifully. The truth is, we never got the chance to share the photos. Those photos have just been sitting with us all this time. We were so happy while getting ready for that shoot, full of excitement and hope. But what followed was one of the most difficult phases of my life. I’ll show you those pictures—you’ll also see Cherry in them. (Photo: Instagram)
