From not accepting Parth Samthaan's entry in season 2 to reacting to the 'RIP ACP Pradyuman' post; Netizens spark outrage over Shivaji Satam's exit from CID after 27 years

The fans' beloved character of the show, the legendary ACP Pradyuman, is no more. A true icon of Indian television, his character met a tragic end in the latest episode of CID, leaving viewers shocked and heartbroken.

For anyone who’s somehow missed it since its 1998 debut, ACP Pradyuman has been the heart and soul of CID, one of the world’s longest-running and most-loved crime shows. Known for his sharp mind, steely presence, and, of course, the iconic “Daya, darwaza tod do,” he was more than just a character — he was a part of every Indian household.

On Saturday, the channel confirmed the news via a social media post, officially putting an end to all speculation — and sparking a wave of outrage and grief from loyal fans who weren’t ready to say goodbye. For many, it feels like the end of an era. Netizens have been posting and commenting on the recent track.

A user wrote, 'Acp sir ke bina show katam ho jayega.' Another one added, 'ACP sir ko wapas lao.' One of them commented, 'Aise kitne aaye kitne gaye... No one can dare touch our ACP PRADYUMAN... Never write him off.'

Fans compared ACP's death to Mihir Virani

A user even compared ACP's death to Mihir from Kyunki, 'Remember when Mihir of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi was written off the show after an accident, leading to his presumed death and the audience backlash that led to the character's eventual return.... Well, so will ACP return.. It's not him they will say after few episodes and voila he will rise from the grave.'

Fans refused to accept Parth Samthaan's entry

A few fans even refused to accept the new ACP, 'Without ACP sir, please just stop CID. We cannot and will not accept a new ACP. If you really want to continue, let either Abhijeet or Daya lead. That’s the only way. You’ve already killed us inside out, Sony. We hate you for this.' Another one wrote, 'Koi accept nai karega ye new ACP parth ko. Usko koi bolo ki sift hate milegi.'

Fans demanded to return ACP Pradyuman

Fans even demanded the return of ACP Pradyuman. 'We want ACP Sir back; otherwise, I will stop watching CI.D I watch CID only for ACP Sir and Salunkhe Sir jokes and the trio. Please don't do like this.' Another one added, "ACP abhi daya in teeno mese koi ek b nai hai to CID b nai hai .. Please esa mat karo.. ham cid fans ke liye CID hamare life ka ek part ho gya hai.. ... A fan expressed outrage

A user poured rage in the comment section, 'What is this???? Do we really need this post? Really you are going to end this character, the Era of cid which we cherish, the perfect trio. Really? A fan commented: You buried the legacy

One them added, 'Do you guys even understand the meaning of this? In how many ways this can be misinterpreted? What if someone considers this towards the actor instead of the character? If u have even an ounce of shame left, just delete this!'

A user wrote, 'Sorry, it’s not RIP to ACP Pradyuman. It’s RIP to CID. And RIP to Sony TV. Because with this one heartless move, you didn’t just end a character. You buried a legacy. You destroyed the emotions of millions. ACP sir lives on in our hearts forever. It’s your respect, your credibility, and your connection with loyal fans that truly died today.'

A user slammed the channel for ruining the legacy

One slammed the channel, 'Why would you do this, Sony? Why would you kill ACP Pradyuman? He was not just a character, he was a part of our lives. He was strength, intelligence, justice, and nostalgia all in one. For 25 years he stood tall, fought crime, led with dignity, and now you decide to end him like this? After everything? You owe the fans an explanation. You owe our childhoods respect. You could have given him a retirement, a peaceful farewell, something dignified. But no. You just decided to break millions of hearts in one post. I can’t believe I have to accept that he’s gone. This is not fair. This is not just. This is not how heroes are supposed to go.'

10/10

A fan wanted Daya or Abhijeet to take charge

One of them wants Daya or Abhijeet to continue the legacy, 'We do not want any new ACP. We are already going through enough pain because of this post. Do not kill us further by trying to replace our ACP, sir. Let Abhijeet and Daya take charge and solve the cases if needed. That is still better than watching someone else in that chair. We hate the makers and Sony for doing this to us.'
