From being in an abusive relationship to catfights with Rashami Desai: Bigg Boss 16 contestant Tina Datta's controversial life

Bigg Boss 16 contestant Tina Datta's journey in showbiz has been a fruitful one. The actress has seen several highs in the television industry and been part of popular shows like Uttaran and Karmaphal Daata Shani. However, her fame and success have come with a fair share of controversies. Here's taking a look at some of the major ones...

2/7

When she revealed she was in an abusive relationship

In 2019, Tina exclusively spoke to BT about the abusive relationship she was in for five years. She said, "I was in a relationship with a non-industry guy for five years. We had met through common friends. But I called time on it, because he was extremely abusive, verbally and physically. I would get bashed up even in front of my friends. I went bonkers to an extent that my confidence took a beating. I never wanted to go public with my relationship, but I feel that it's time to speak up." It came as a shock to her fans. Catfights with Uttaran co-star Rashami Desai

Apparently, Uttaran co-stars Tina and Rashami Desai did not share a cordial relationship. There were rumours of catfights between them not just on the sets of the daily soap but also Comedy Circus 3 Ka Tadka. When Tina was shooting for the show, she did not know Rashami had been invited, and the latter hosted an episode and performed on the show only after Tina left. Tina, however, has clarified time and again that she's good friends with Rashami.

Cold war with Sreejita De

Tina Datta and Sreejita De (now evicted) were seen together briefly on Bigg Boss 16. Even after years, their differences continue to grow. What viewers might not know is that Tina and Sreejita worked together in Uttaran which ended in 2015. The two had several catfights on the set and that was about who should be credited as the lead actress of the show. Back then, Tina told us, "The show has been running for the last six years, and everyone knows it is about two characters Meethi (Tina Datta) and Tapasya (Rashami Desai). So obviously, it revolves around me.” On the other hand, Sreejita said, “A show cannot run with a single actor. An experienced actor knows that a show can never be shouldered by a single person. Anyone who says that the show is all about them is extremely childish and immature." Besides, the two also accused each other of unprofessional behaviour.

When she accused co-star Mohit Malhotra of touching her inappropriately

In 2019, Tina accused her Daayan co-star Mohit Malhotra of inappropriately touching her. A source close to the two informed, "Tina and Mohit aren't comfortable talking about it right now. They have had a meeting today with the production house and it looks like things are under wraps. The production house will soon release an official statement and only then can they talk about anything to give a clear picture." Later Tina and Mohit reconciled, though the latter continued to deny charges against him.

Claims of being molested on a flight

About 6 years ago, Tina wrote a lengthy post on Facebook where she complained about an airline and its unsupportive staff. Tina claimed that she was sexually harrassed by a co-passenger, who tried to touch her inappropriately. The actress was shocked and called for help but all the attendant offered was to change the seat of the male passenger. Tina said the casual attitude towards the whole incident by the staff members made her feel violated and upset. (Photo: Instagram)

Another unpleasant experience on the flight

If that was not enough, Tina narrated another incident on the same flight. She shared, "While I was having my meal the passenger in front of me seated 29A reclined their seats and was not willing to budge this created difficulties for me to eat. Air hostess intervened in this and requested the man to upright his seat, this man was so rude to her started yelling at her she even warned him that she would call cops on landing but it did not seem to affect him at all. All the captain had to say was this does not come under our protocol." (Photo: Instagram)
