From being a background dancer in Abhishek Bachchan's film to shining in Bollywood: A look at Mouni Roy's journey

For ages, many television actors have shifted their career graphs from the Television industry to Bollywood and one such example is Naagin actress Mouni Roy. She is not the first actress to go and work in Bollywood, many famous actors like Shah Rukh Khan, Vidya Balan, Sushant Singh Rajput, Ayushmann Khurrana, and many others have made it big. Like many other actors, even Mouni began her journey of acting as a background dancer. Even before her acting career had begun, Mouni danced behind famous actor Abhishek Bachchan in the 2004 film Run. It was the first time she was seen on the screen

Mouni Roy was first seen as an actress in the famous TV show ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi”. She played the role of orphan Krishna Tulsi, who was raised by the lead role in the show Tulsi (Smriti Irani). She was also seen opposite actor Pulkit Samrat in the serial produced by Ekta Kapoor.

Mouni, who made her TV debut with a daily soap, shot to fame with her role 'Sati' in the mythological serial Devon Ke Dev Mahadev. The show was highly successful and it earned Mouni a fan following.

After gaining popularity with the role of Sati, Naagin changed the game for Mouni. Mouni was the first Naagin actress in the series and her love story opposite male TV actor Arjun Bijlani was a superhit. Later, she also returned to the series in Naagin 3. The show was also highly successful.

Her successful stint in TV helped Mouni make inroads into Bollywood. She made her debut with Akshay Kumar’s film Gold. Mouni Roy, who was born in Cooch Behar, West Bengal, is a Bengali herself and her role as Monobina in the film was a perfect match. She was very much praised for her acting skills.

Mouni flaunted her dancing prowess in Tum Bin 2’s song Nachna Aunda Ni. Later, Mouni was approached for a special number 'Gali Gali Mein' in KGF- Chapter 1, which was a massive hit. The song also received many views and likes.

Mouni has been successfully balancing both TV and films. Mouni went on to do three more films: Romeo Akbar Walter, Made in China, and Velle.

After years of hard work, Mouni finally bagged a biggie. She was roped in Karan Johar and Ayan Mukherjee's upcoming magnum opus. In this much anticipated trilogy, she will be seen playing the role of a villain.

The Naagin actress got married to her long-time boyfriend Suraj Nambiar while she is earning fame in TV and films. Her wedding ceremony was the talk of the tinsel town back then.
