Exclusive: Rithvik Dhanjani on how to keep it real in today’s dating scene, says ‘Be communicative about your expectations be it financial, sex or anything’

Reality TV show host and actor Rithvik Dhanjani will soon make his debut in the OTT space with a dating show. The actor is going to host and guide singles and parents in choosing their parents. In an exclusive interaction with ETimes TV, Rithvik talks about being the date guide, his dating life, moving on in life after break-up with longtime girlfriend Asha Negi and a lot more.

2/9

How different was it from hosting a show on TV to a dating reality show?

This is my first time on the OTT space and it was very different. There is freedom and hence no inhibition. While on TV, I know it’s a family show and I have to pretend and behave a certain way. On OTT, we are all unabashed and unapologetic.

On ‘beta shaadi kar le’

Today’s parents, my mom, she will keep saying ‘Beta shaadi kar le’. I wish my mom knew how I function in my dating space and how I want my partner to be. So it would have been easier for them to understand.

4/9

So how do you function in your head and what qualities are you looking in a girl right now?

I am not looking for girl right now. Period. I had been a wonderful relationship for such a long time. It has been one of the most important part of my life. It’s not there and at this point of time, I am not looking at anything.

5/9

‘I am an old school romance person’

I am old school romance guy any day. Writing letters, gifting small gifts, planning surprises for partner… I think that’s who I am. I have never been on a dating app. I never did right swipe or left swipe. I don’t know if I will ever be able to do this.

6/9

Fans were in shock when your break-up was announced, how did you take in all the comments at that time?

I was working. There was no shock. It is life and life happen. It was very graceful. I am working, she is working. Right things happened at the right time. Everything has been a blessing. It was the most beautiful thing that has happened to me. I will always have love, prayers and so much warmth in my heart for what I shared with her. It’s always going to be like that.

7/9

On hosting a dating reality show

This is a pataaka and a mad ride, when it comes to dating reality shows. In this show, we bring the singles’ parents too. The parent swipe right, left for their kids. Making the parents understand social media lingo was a lot of fun.

Dating tips for today’s generation

Be yourself, is the only dating tip I would give anybody. Be who you truly are. Let the other person know what your heart wants. The moment you are yourself, you are the best version.

9/9

In today’s dating scene with so much of social media interference, how to keep it real?

Communication. Be it your expectations, personal life, financial expectations, sex life, communication is the most important. Today’s generation is very vocal.
