I wanted to quit the show mid-way

My journey has been very interesting and it is a very proud moment for me that I am sitting here and giving this interview to ETimes TV. I came from Pune to audition for India’s Best Dancer and I spent 8 months on the show and I’ve seen some very beautiful moments. I still remember I was selected in Top 13, then I had to perform in the Grand premiere with a choreographer and matching steps with them in sync was very difficult. Till then I’d only performed solo in all the rounds but during Grand premiere when I had to dance with choreographer I felt I won’t be able to do it, seriously I went to everyone from the show’s team, choreographers to channel and told them I won’t be able to perform it is very difficult for me. I told them I’m unable to perform, I want to quit. Not many people know this but in the middle of the show I wanted to quit as I felt I am looking bad and I’m not able to perform or match with the choreographers. But the channel, the team, everyone motivated me and pushed me that you can do it. (Photo: Instagram)

Lahu mooh lag Gaya was one of my most memorable performances

Then I got used to performing with choreographers and doing difficult dance, I got serious about doing advanced dance moves and choreography. Then the journey started and I got to do some beautiful performances like Lahu mooh lag Gaya, kya din the Woh, then I got selected in Top 8, Top 6 it was a wow moment for me. I was scared what would happen but then I made it to the finale and now I bagged the trophy. (Photo: Instagram)

Terence sir gave me a lot of suggestions where I was lacking

My favourite judge is Terence Lewis sir and he supported me a lot during my journey. He gave me a lot of suggestions where I was lacking and I would work on my weak parts and perform better next time. I shared a very good bond with all the judges. (Photo: Instagram)

Meri Ek he wish thi ke marne se pehle Remo sir ke Saamne perform karna hai

The shoes part is very interesting. I always wished to perform in front of Remo sir. Meri Ek he wish thi ke marne se pehle Remo sir ke Saamne perform karna hai... He came to me and gave me the shoes and it is still with me. Remo sir has always been my favourite. I’m so glad that I could achieve this wish of mine so early in my life and this is my dream come true moment. (Photo: Instagram)

Meeting King and spending time with him was memorable

I’ve spent some beautiful compliments on the show. But the one which is very special to me was when King came as a special judge and I’ve been his huge fan. To witness him live, interacting with him, clicking photos with him was a surreal moment and Dil khush hogaya Mera and that was one of most memorable moments from my journey. (Photo: Instagram)

Meeting his father on IBD

It was very special when my father came on the show. I told him how crazy this city of Mumbai is. He surprised me and I told him about the show. Once we got back to the hotel room we discussed a lot about the show. When I was very young, around 3 years, he had gone abroad for work and to earn for our family. He would visit sometimes once a year, or teen saal mein Ek baar aate because our financial position was not that great. He had to stay outside for us. But when I was in 10th grade, I felt I could do something for my family. I loved dancing a lot and I researched if this profession can give me money. That moment I felt this is a great opportunity as I’ve interest in dance and this can give me happiness, money and name so let’s focus on this. (Photo: Instagram)

On the winning moment

When I was on stage and the winner’s name was to be announced, I was thinking if I become the winner I’ll get Rs 15 lakh, the I looked at my parents and felt if I become the winner they will be so proud of me. They are proud of me but I wanted to make them feel that I could help them financially. I could see their faces and feel how happy and proud they are. (Photo: Instagram)

How he plans to spend the prize money?

Yes, there are many plans with the prize money. First I will give the money to my parents. Then my father had a dream to have a bike of his own so now he can have that. I plan to stay here in Mumbai and I will use that money to settle here. Par dekhte hain kaise kya hoga I don’t want to settle only with this. I want to work more and earn more. (Photo: Instagram)
