Exclusive- Gulki Joshi on her character Haseena Malik in Maddam Sir: I am still not out of it

Maddam Sir's Haseena Malik aka Gulki Joshi had a candid conversation with ETimes TV where the actress shares that she hasn't been approached for the upcoming season of the show. Talking about her break post the show, Gulki revealed that she went for a solo backpacking trip to Europe, she had only taken a one way ticket and decided to go as the recommendations take her. Take a look at what she had to say:

2/7

Gulki on not being approached for season 2

I don't particularly have a view on it. It is just that I kept getting news of the show returning with a new season and I have been approached for it. I was like yeh kya ho raha hai. I wasn't even asked about it, or maybe I agreed to it in my sleep and forgot. But nobody had approached me, the fans were getting excited and suddenly I was getting tagged a lot so I chose to tell the truth that I wasn't doing the show and I had no idea whether the new season was coming or not.

3/7

Jokes about relating to the policemen

There have been many instances, I used to even joke about it during the show that every time I saw Policemen, I used to feel 'yeh toh apne waale hai' lets help them and then I would realise that my uniform is for the show and they are the real ones.

4/7

Her 3 years long journey with Maddam Sir

As far as the experience goes, those were the most magnificent, beautiful and the most cherished three years of my life. Bohot maza aata tha, our whole team was mischievous, Yukti was a little calm but staying with us she also began to do those mischiefs. So we used to have so much fun that when the three years passed by we didn't come to know.

5/7

Still not out of Haseena Malik

As the character is concerned, I am still not completely out of it. Soon after the show got over, I had started giving auditions for new shows but every time I tried to act in a different zone, I was still doing it like Haseena Malik, my body language was the same. As an actor, I was trying but it wasn't getting out of my system so I decided to take a break. Everything that I earned in 3 years, I thought of enjoying it. That started off with my break, I enjoyed it thoroughly so technically it has been more than 6 months since I have done TV.

6/7

Gulki on continuing to pursue Theatre

Theatre is where my training is from, I did it in college, post graduating and as I practice I do it after every show. I had done a play soon after my first show. I keep doing plays as it is the best practice for me as an actor. That is one thing that brings you back on the ground from stardom. Not that the stardom affects me, but theatre always brings back the reason why I began my acting journey.

7/7

Her sheer love for Theatre

I love the process of theatre, being on stage, that smell and the lights. The live audience and their reaction. You get to know in 10 seconds whether your punch was a hit or miss, and you have to quickly hold them back if they are getting bored. Theatre is like a drug, you don't come to know how viewers react on camera, but that live reaction on stage is such a dopamine hit. So I keep going back to it everytime I can.
