Chandrakanta to Banegi Apni Baat; a look at Irrfan Khan’s notable work on television

Actor Irrfan Khan passed away today (April 29). The actor had recently been admitted to the ICU of a city hospital due to colon infection, where he breathed his last. Irrfan Khan started his journey in the entertainment industry with television shows. He did several TV shows, let’s take a look at the roles he played:

Chandrakanta

It was this fantasy television series, that got Irrfan Khan noticed. He played the role of twin brothers Badrinath and Somnath. Shahbaz Khan, who was seen in the role of Kunwar Virendra Vikram Singh, had pushed him to sign the show.

Banegi Apni Baat

Banegi Apni Baat was a cult show based on college and youth life. Irrfan Khan was a part of this iconic show. He was seen a Kumar in this serial. This show gave a noticeable break to many actors. Bollywood actor also started his acting career with this series.

Chanakya

The actor played the role of Senapati Bhadrashaal in Chanakya. It was a 47-part historical drama that aired from 8 September 1991to 9 August 1992.

Bharat Ek Khoj

Bharat Ek Khoj was a 53-episode Indian historical drama based on the book The Discovery of India. Irrfan Khan was a part of an episodic in this show.

Laal Ghaas Par Neele Ghode

He had acted in a teleplay on Doordarshan named Laal Ghaas Par Neele Ghode where he played Lenin. It was based on a translation by Uday Prakash of a Russian play by Mikhail Shatrov. (show image not available)

He was the main villain in a series called Darr, where he played the role of a psycho serial killer, opposite Kay Kay Menon.

Kahkashan

He also played the role of famous revolutionary Urdu poet and Marxist political activist of India Makhdoom Mohiuddin in Kahkashan, produced by Ali Sardar Jafri. This television series was about six great masters of modern Urdu and Islamic poetry. (Show image not available)
