Uma to Mon Phagun: A look at new Bengali TV shows set to spice up the entertainment quotient

Bengali telly viewers will soon enjoy a mixed platter of entertainment. Eyeing sharp at the TRPs, all popular television channels are trying to hook the viewers to the screen with their interesting offerings. From a catchy storyline, ensemble cast, to an interesting lead jodi, TV channels are leaving no stone unturned to woo the audience. Let’s take a look…

The much-awaited show stars Sean Banerjee and Srijla Guha as the lead jodi. The very first promo made quite some noise among the fans. Right from Mon Phagun’s title track, on-screen chemistry of Sean and Srijla and the breath-taking view of the shooting location- the promo had quite some surprise elements. The team has been shooting in some very popular locations of Kolkata.

This is yet another much-awaited show on Bengali television. National-award winning actress Debashree Roy will make her comeback after a long time. ‘Sarbajaya’ will narrate the story of a housewife who decides to follow her dreams after dedicating most of her life to the family. The show will feature Kushal Chakraborty opposite Debashree Roy. Actress Swagata Mukherjee will play a meaty role in the show.

Super Singer Season 3: ‘Super Singer Season 3’ hosted by Jisshu U Sengupta, is set to hit the small screen soon. Singer Sonu Nigam will join the panel of judges that includes Kumar Sanu and Kaushiki Chakraborty.

The upcoming show will feature Papiya Adhikari in a prominent role. Titiksha Das and Aditya Bakshi are set to essay the lead pair in the show. A music reality show is also set to be launched by the same channel.

Following the latest trend of featuring an ensemble cast, Dhulokona will see many popular actors playing prominent roles in the show. The remake of a popular ‘Kannada’ show is also going to launch soon. ‘Sundari’, starring Sushrita Ghosh, in the titular role, is set to launch today.

In the recent past, Bengali TV serials narrated the stories of bahuranis who are also footballer, badminton player, sprinter, detective and lawyer. Now it is time to see a cricket aspirant as the female protagonist. The upcoming show ‘Uma’, which is likely to feature actor Neel Bhattacharya as the male, will narrate the story of a girl who aspires to be a cricketer. Model-turned actress Shinjinee Chakraborty will play the titular role.

After a brief hiatus, actress Anjana Basu will be seen on the small screen again. The actress will play a negative role in ‘Mon Mane Na’.

Debadrita Basu will play Meera Bai’s role in the show while Prarabdhi Singha will essay Sree Krishna in this show. Actor Joey Debroy, on the other hand, will be seen as Bhoj Raj. The show will also feature Bhaswar Chatterjee and Sudip Sarkar among others.

The upcoming show has an interesting storyline that highlights the fact that a daughter can take care of her parents as well as in-laws, unlike the common belief that sons are supposed to shoulder the responsibility of taking care of the parents. The show will have an interesting pair as the lead. Adrija Addy Roy will play the female lead while Abhishek Veer Sharma of ‘Saraswatir Prem’ is also set to launch soon. Besides this, ‘Teen Shaktir Aadhar-Trishul’ is also gearing up for its launch.
