Suman Dey, Rahul Dev Bose to Priya Mondal: Here’s how Bengali actors are celebrating Kali Puja and Diwali

The festival of light and happiness is being celebrated with great fervour. Our very own Tolly stars are also celebrating Kali Puja and Diwali with full enthusiasm. Let’s take a look... (Photo: Facebook)

Sayan Bose

Sayan became a household name after playing the male lead in TV show ‘Tumpa Autowali’ which also has a Hindi remake (Saavi Ki Savaari). Speaking about Kali Puja, he says, “I always celebrate Kali Puja with my family and this year won’t be an exception.” Sayan will be busy shooting for his television show but that won’t stop him from getting drenched in the festive spirit. “Early morning, I will pay a visit to Kalighat temple to offer prayer to the Goddess. Then, I will attend the shooting. In the evening, I will go to my maternal aunt’s place where they arrange Kali Puja every year. I am looking forward to celebrating the festival with my family,” he adds.

Arka Jyoti Paul Chowdhury

Arka too has shooting on Kali Puja. “Kali Puja is the perfect time to enjoy a festive mood with your family and friends. Unfortunately, due to shoot schedule, sometimes, we can’t enjoy the festive season like others. This year, I will be busy shooting for TV show Amader Ei Poth Jodi Na Shesh Hoy. But I have some plans. After pack-up, I will enjoy a long adda with my friends,” says Arka. The actor won’t count calories during the festive season and rather gorge on mouth-watering delicacies. “Delicious food and the warmth of loved ones make the festive season more special. So, I will make good memories, and enjoy some yummy food without worrying about calorie intake at all.” (Photo: Facebook)

Priya Mondal

“Every year, I fast on Kali Puja and this year won’t be an exception. We have shooting schedule, so I will end my fast after going home and offering Puja to Goddess Kali,” says Priya, who plays the female lead in 'Tumii Je Amar Maa'. The actress has some special plans for Diwali as well. “It’s a festival of light and no celebration is complete without making others happy. I will distribute chocolates, colour pencils, and tarabati (a special kind of firecracker) among the kids who are less privileged. Happiness isn’t happiness until you share it with others,” she adds. Suman Dey

“When I was a teenager, I observed fasting on Kali Pujo for five consecutive years. Due to some reasons, I couldn’t continue the tradition. But this year, I have decided to fast on Kali Pujo,” says Suman who is busy with his ongoing daily soap. Today, he has a shooting schedule as well. “We have to shoot for TV show Tumii Je Amar Maa. After pack-up, I will go to Matri Sangha Janakalyan Ashram, to offer puja to Goddess Kali. Suravi goes there every year and last year, I accompanied her. We were there for four hours and I cherish the experience. I will also decorate the house with candles and pradeep (diya),” says Suman.

Well, no celebration is complete without good food. Suman, too, has some plans to treat his taste buds. “At night, we might go out for dinner and enjoy the vibrant festive mood,” says Suman. (Photo: Facebook)

Rahul Dev Bose

Rahul has been busy with the promotion of his upcoming project ‘Mission Dugga Dugga’ and other commitments. Taking a break from his busy schedule, the actor is looking forward to celebrating the festival with his family. “I will celebrate Kali Puja with my parents. Treating taste buds is a must during the festive season. So, it’s time for some guilt-free indulgence,” says Rahul. The actor is in favour of celebrating an eco-friendly Diwali. “We should think about our environment. So, I am always in favour of pollution-free celebrations and would request everyone to follow the same,” says Rahul. (Photo: Facebook)
