Shubho Noboborsho! Adrija Roy to Gourab Roy Chowdhury: Here is what's keeping Bengali celebs busy on ‘Poila Boishakh’

With full of hope and enthusiasm, Bengali diaspora around the world is welcoming the calendar year 1429. After spending two years under restrictions because of the pandemic, people are slowly going back to the old rhythm of life keeping safety gears by side. And our popular celebs aren’t an exception. Here’s how they are celebrating the occasion... (Photo: Facebook)

Sanchari Mondal

This Bengali beauty has quite some plans for ‘Poila Boishakh’ and afterward. “We will have puja at home on Noboborsho. The festive mood isn’t complete without authentic food and keeping the tradition alive, we will have a grand family lunch at home,” says Sanchari. Well, 1429 will start for Sanchari and her director hubby Sangit Tewari on a high note. The couple will go on a trip to Sikkim. “We both are avid travellers and don’t miss a single chance to go on a trip. But the problem is I love mountains while Sangit loves forests. So, when we go on a trip, we divide it equally. On an 8 day-long trip, we spent 4 days in the mountains following my wish while the next four days were spent at a hill station. Now finding such a place, where both can be enjoyed, is a real task but we love it,” says the actress. Sangit is currently having a hectic schedule since he is busy with the shooting of ‘Ismart Jodi'.

Gourab Roy Chowdhury

Gourab has a shoot schedule on Poila Boishakh. “What could be more special than welcoming 1429 on Pilu’s set along with my teammates,” says the actor. Gourab plans to spend the evening with mom and enjoy some lip-smacking authentic Bengali cuisine. “My world revolves around Maa. So, we will enjoy the evening together. Being a true blue Bangali, I can't deny the eternal love-affair with food and won’t count calories on Noboborsho,” he says. (Photo: Facebook)

Dibyojyoti Dutta

“I will spend Poila Boishakh doing what excites me more. I have a shooting schedule and will celebrate Noboborsho on the sets of Anurager Chowa. And no matter what, I never skip the gym and Poila Boishakh won’t be an exception. If I manage a quick pack-up, I will celebrate the festive mood with my parents and sister without whom my life is incomplete,” says Dibyojyoti. Shruti Das

This year is special for Shruti. After all, she got the opportunity to shoot with filmstar Dev whom she adores a lot. “This Noboborsho is really special for me. Dev was my teenage crush and I have always admired him. It was a dream come true moment for me when I got the opportunity to shoot with him for the Noboborsho special show. So you can say, I have got the Noboborsho special gift prior to the occasion. I have also received beautiful gifts from Swarnendu’s family and really I feel blessed,” she says. Shruti is going to enjoy the festive mood with her loved ones. “Good food is a must on Poila Boishakh and I have planned to watch a movie in the evening,” she adds.

Debjoy Mallick and Rupashree Chakraborty

The newly married couple is looking forward to Poila Boishakh. “This is our first Noboborsho celebration after the wedding and we both are really excited. Almost all the occasions are celebrated with full enthusiasm at Mallick bari and Noboborsho isn’t an exception. All the family members will participate in the puja. I always look forward to such occasions to enjoy the family gathering,” says Rupashree. Debjoy recently won an award for best actor in a negative role. And the family will celebrate the achievement. “There will be a family get-together to celebrate Debjoy’s success. Good food, long adda, and loads of fun will certainly make the very first day of Bengali calendar year special,” she adds. (Photo: Facebook)

Adrija Addy Roy

“Poila Boishakh is always special for us because my cousin sister’s birthday is also on April 15. So we always have a double celebration at home. Last two years, I couldn’t go out on Poila Boishakh because of the pandemic. So, I am looking forward to 1429. I have taken a leave on Poila Boishakh and will enjoy the festive mood to the fullest. We will pay a visit to Dakshineswar temple. We will have a grand family lunch followed by my cousin sister’s birthday celebration in the evening. I will also meet my childhood friends and enjoy long adda,” says Adrija. She is playing the female lead in 'Mou Er Bari' When asked about new clothes, Adrija shared she will wear her mom’s new saree. “I love saree and mostly wear it on traditional occasions. But honestly, I don’t buy much sarees and rather keep an eye on mom’s possessions. Keeping the tradition alive, I will wear mom’s new saree on Noboborsho,” said the bubbly actress. (Phoo: Faebook)
