‘Nava Rupe Devi Durga’ to showcase nine forms of the Divine Goddess; Take a look at the actresses playing various forms of Devi Durga

Mahalaya is just a night away. In less than a day, Bengal is ready to wake up at 4 am in the morning to the sacred chants of Birendrakrishna Bhadra’s Mahishasuramardini as the auspicious Devipokkho sets the premise of Maa Durga’s homecoming. Durga Puja, the biggest festival of Bengal has arrived. Bengali television is gearing up to usher the Divine Goddess with special offerings. One of the leading channels on Bengali TV is ready with its much-anticipated Mahalaya special show, ‘Nava Rupe Devi Durga’, on 2nd October, 2024 from 5 am. Along with Subhashree Ganguly as the leading lady of the Mahalaya special show, nine other actresses are set to portray the various avatars of the Divine Goddess. Take a look.

Rishita Nandy

Devi Shoiloputri, who is the daughter of Shoiloraj Himalaya, is worshiped on the first day of Navaratri. ‘Alor Kole’ famed child actor Rishita Nandy is set to embody Goddess Shoiloputri in ‘Nava Rupe Devi Durga’.

Ankita Mallick

Goddess Brahmacharini is the tapaswi avatar of Goddess Durga. Goddess Brahmacharini is worshiped on the second day of Navaratri. She performed great austerities to earn Lord Shiva as her husband. ‘Jagaddhatri’ fame Ankita Mallick is set to portray the Goddess in ‘Nava Rupe Devi Durga’.

Mohana Maiti

Goddess Chandraghanta is worshiped on the third day of Navaratri. She has a bell-shaped crescent moon on her forehead, hence the name. ‘Ke Prothom Kachhe Eshechi’ famed actress Mohana Maiti will essay the character of the Divine Goddess.

Divyani Mondal

The fourth form of Goddess Durga in Navaratri is Kushmanda. After taking the form of Goddess Parvati Kushmanda, she resided inside the Sun's core so that the Sun could release energy into the universe. ‘Phulki’ fame Divyani Mondal will embody the Goddess in ‘Nava Rupe Devi Durga’.

Sweta Bhattacharya

Skandamata is the fifth form of Goddess Durga and is worshiped on the fifth day of Navaratri. This form of the Goddess is also known as Kartikeya Skanda due to the fact that she is depicted as a female deity carrying Kartikeya on her lap. ‘Kon Gopone Mon Bhesheche’ fame Sweta Bhattacharya will be seen in the Skandamata avatar in ‘Nava Rupe Devi Durga’.

Pallavi Sharma

Katyayani is the sixth form of Goddess Durga and is worshiped on the sixth day of Navaratri. She is known as Katyayani after sage Katyayana who performed penance on Goddess Durga and asked her to be born as his daughter as a groom. ‘Neem Phooler Madhu’ fame Pallavi Sharma is set to portray the Divine Goddess.

Aratrika Maity

Kalratri is the seventh and one of the fiercest forms of Goddess Durga. She is also sometimes known as Kali. ‘Mithijhora’ famed actress Aratrika Maity who plays the softspoken Rai on the show, will be seen as Kalratri in ‘Nava Rupe Devi Durga’.

Dona Bhowmick

The ninth and final form of Goddess Durga is Siddhidatri and is worshiped on the ninth and last day of Navaratri. She is believed to be the bestower of all siddhis. ‘Diamond Didi Zindabad’ fame Dona Bhowmick is set to portray Siddhidatri in the Mahalaya special show.

Subhashree Ganguly

The ace Tollywood actress is set to play the lead in ‘Nava Rupe Devi Durga’ as she takes the baton of Devi Mahamaya and Mahishasuramardini. Subhashree will be reprising her role as Mahishasuramardini after taking a gap year due to her pregnancy.
