Desher Maati to Rimli: Bengali TV shows that went off-air sooner than expected

In the recent past, many Bengali TV shows went off-air despite setting high hopes initially. Rahul Arunoday Banerjee and Rooqma Ray starrer ‘Desher Maati’, Idhika Paul and John Bhattacharya starrer ‘Rimli’, ‘Ogo Nirupama’ are among them. Desher Maati

A good story, refreshing lead pair, ensemble cast, Raja-Mampi’s crackling reel chemistry nothing could stop ‘Desher Maati’ from going off-air even before completing one year. Shruti Das, Dibyojyoti Dutta, Rahul, Rooqma Ray, Payel De, Tathagata, Ashok Bhattacharya, Anashua Majumder, Rita Dutta Chakraborty and many other actors were a part of the show which went off-air last week. Titli

Titli, which had set high hopes with its storyline, also concluded its journey sooner than expected. The story was about an aspiring pilot who suffers from hearing issues. Rimli

Rimli, starring John Bhattacharya and Idhika Paul as the lead characters, was launched in February. But the show couldn’t show its magic on the TRP charts and went off air in September.

Ogo Nirupama

Bhaggolokkhi

Kadambini

Khirer Putul

The fantasy-drama was based on the novel of Abanindranath Tagore’s immensely popular creation ‘Khirer Putul’. But the show went off-air after airing 119 episodes. Sudipta Roy, Sritama Chowdhury, and Suman Dey played lead roles.
