When in Venice you simply cannot miss trying the exquisite Italian gelato (ice cream). There are so many gelaterias, and places in Venice serving ice cream, but one of the most unique and unusual is the tiny Alaska Gelateria.
Situated in the Santa Croce neighbourhood, just across the canal from the train station, it is run by the enthusiastic owner, Carlos. This small and unassuming shop serves imaginative, organic, artisanal gelato, and sorbet flavours which includes watermelon, rose, green tea, pistachio, as well as rocket and orange, asparagus and ginger, and even artichoke and liquorice. There are also some traditional favourites. You really will be spoilt for choice here.
