Cyprus opens up for tourism, here’s how

Cyprus could easily be called a paradise right now, as the island country has no new cases of COVID-19 currently. Cyprus tourism is hence looking to make a return, as the country announces phased reopenings in June. The total cases of virus-infected patients stand at less than 1000, with 17 deaths.
According to news reports, the country has already outlined its plans for reopening in phases, and is looking forward to opening up its airports for international tourists. As of now, the date for the commencement of the phased reopening is set as June 9. Cyprus was one of the first countries to begin restrictions, shutting down airports, and sealing borders, and this has proved to be a success in the long run.


But every country does not get a free pass to enter Cyprus, not yet. According to news reports, the nation has segregated countries in two categories, and there are two phases they are working with. Starting from June 9, the first phase will end on June 19, while the second will commence from June 20. Category A includes Bulgaria, Lithuania, Hungary, Slovenia, Finland, Norway, Malta, Greece, Israel, Slovakia, Austria, and Germany. While Category B includes Switzerland, Estonia, Czech Republic, Romania, Croatia, and Poland.
Travellers will be required to present laboratory test certificates that prove that they were COVID-19 negative before boarding the flight. Hence, the test should have been done 72 hours before the departure. Also, those who are Cyprus citizens and permanent residents, can take their test upon arrival. However, they must remain in isolation for a period of time.
