And now this November, as part of the festivities, the DHR has announced that the Darjeeling toy train will continue to run post-sundown through the same route for the first time in history. It’s expected that the special evening train will boost the upcoming celebrations as well as the heritage train among tourists.
Dates and timings of the Darjeeling night train services
If reports are to go by, the Darjeeling toy train will run in the evenings every Saturday and Sunday from 12 November 2022 to 4 December 2022. These are also the dates when the Ghoom Festival will be celebrated, and while the festivities will run throughout the week, one can expect big crowds and more events on weekends.
Reportedly, the fares for the night-time toy trains will be the same as the day trains. As such, while the First Class fare for diesel engines will be INR 1000 while those for steam engines will be INR 1500. No extra fare will be charged for the return journey from Ghoom to Darjeeling. Also, tickets can be easily booked at the Darjeeling railway station or on the IRCTC website.

The event is hosted to promote the DHR as well as local talent and culture. A number of events will be held at stations across the railway route as well as in Darjeeling.
