The tourism board's director Claudio Zemp said, "I'm not only thrilled but also feel quite emotional that we finally can go back to what we do best; host guests from North America in our magnificent country. I have long believed that Switzerland, with its small boutique towns, rustic villages dotted along picturesque valleys, and wide-open alpine landscapes is the natural choice for a post-Covid holiday. Now that the borders will be open… we can't wait to welcome each one of you."
Travellers entering the country by air will have to complete an online entry form. As of now, Switzerland considers the US a "high risk" country. As per the US Embassy in Switzerland and Liechtenstein, the entry of Americans is banned, except in "cases of special necessity". The country had already reopened to travellers from the Schengen region along with several other countries, such as New Zealand, Israel, Singapore, and South Korea.
Apparently, Switzerland is not the only country in Europe to welcome US travellers. Countries like Iceland, France and Spain too started welcoming fully vaccinated Americans. Switzerland is one gorgeous country, noted for its snow-clad mountains, splendid national parks, pretty little lake-side villages and chocolate.
