Diya Kumari, who is also a BJP MP, said that there are records with the erstwhile Jaipur royal family that will prove the fact.
She told reporters that though compensation was given in lieu of the land, she is not aware whether it was accepted or not, because she has not studied the records which are there in her 'pothikhana'. “But the land belonged to our family and Shah Jahan had acquired it", she said.
She further said that because there was no judiciary at that time, no appeal could have been made and that everything will be clear only after examining the records.
The royal member is also supporting a petition in the Allahabad High Court about opening of the 22 rooms in the Taj Mahal and what truth lies there. She said that it is only valid that the rooms should be opened and the world must know why the rooms are locked.
“There could have been anything before the Taj Mahal, may be a temple. People have the right to know what was there originally before the 'maqbara'," Kumari said.
Kumari further stated, "What I am saying is on behalf of what I have learnt and heard. I have not studied the records. We can provide the records to the court if necessary. Only after examining the records, we can reach a conclusion."
