Varanasi's Manduadih Railway Station has been renamed as Banaras Railway Station by Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel. According to the news reports, the step was taken after a No Objection Certificate (NOC) was granted by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). Read less
News has it that the District Magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma on September 17 shared the copy of the notification given by the principal secretary (PWD) Nitin Ramesh Gokarn.
Gokarn told the press that the formal name change of Manduadih Railway Station as Banaras Railway Station was done by the Governor on September 16, 2020. Reportedly, the notification was given on the basis of NOC given by the centre on March 31, 2020.
Moving further, the formal process of completing the renaming of the railway station will be carried out by the court of the Ministry of Railway and railway board.
