Curcao is now the latest island country to offer long-term stays to remote workers

Another Caribben island is now offering remote workers long -term stays. As per the latest news reports, the Dutch Caribbean island of Curaçao is offering the option to remote workers to visit the island country, work and live there for up to a year.
Reportedly, the island country has launched @Home in Curaçao program that will enable successful applicants to stay in the country for up to six months initially, who will also be eligible for an extension of a further six months. Applicants will, however, have to meet certain criteria.
As per the reports, the program will be open to all nationalities, and the program will be available in three categories, i.e., remote workers/digital nomads, investors, and hibernators/snowbirds. Remote workers willing to move their base to this island nation for the next six months will have to prove that they can work in the location independently, and they won't be subject to any local income taxes.
Also, they must work for an employer who is registered in a foreign country, or as a shareholder or as a partner of a company registered in a foreign country. The third category will comprise of those offeing consulting services or are freelancers.
Those applying in the remote worker/digital nomad category, will pay a $294 (€250) fee, whereas the application process will take around two weeks to process. However, those coming from a high-risk country or area, will have to a PCR test within 72 hours prior to departure and fill in a Passenger Locator Card. Further, they will also have to prove that they already have a valid international travel insurance and a flight booked back home.
