Though the statement released by Egypt’s health ministry did not name the countries. But passengers will have to stop and take the 15-minute DNA test, called ID NOW to enter the country, if arriving from any COVID-19 strain country.
Egypt's tourism ministry in its statement also said that restaurants and coffee shops in hotels will be allowed to operate. But such outlets along with the ones in the malls would be shut at 9 PM so that tourism in the country doesn’t get affected.
Earlier Egypt had announced that visitors will no longer have to produce any negative COVID-19 test report to enter the country. The announcement was made over the fears that tourists would cancel their plans and holidays because of this.
But recently, the cases of COVID-19 in Egypt have been rising and on Saturday, the country recorded 1125 new cases along with 65 deaths. So the government decided to get a little strict and test people coming from COVID-19 variant countries at the time of arrival.
