A staggering remnant from the royal days of Thrissur, Shakthan Thampuran Palace dates back to the time of Rama Varma Shakthan Thampuran, a past king of Thrissur. He was a great ruler and subsequently his rule is often called the golden era of Thrissur. The prime structure of the Sakthan Thampuran Palace has a two-storyed building and a conventional Kerala style Nālukettu. The grand nature of this palace is marked by the high roofs, extra thick walls, spacious rooms and floors paved with finely smoothened Italian marbles.
