Enjoy some live horse racing action at Assiniboia Downs, Winnipeg’s horse race track. It is open to the public and free to visit from May until September. Normal racing days are Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. You can join in with the crowd and cheer for your favourite horse. Choose to sit trackside to hear the thundering hooves of the horses barrelling down the stretch or take cover in the clubhouse located on the second floor for a comfortable view. If you want the true race track feel, make sure to head up to the open grandstand located on the third floor. Try your hand at betting a dollar or two on your favourite horse or grab a race program and learn how to bet like a professional. Make a night of it and dine at the on-site restaurant or bring the kids to one of the race-day afternoons where all afternoon they can watch races and participate in fun events. If you happen to be a part of the older crowd, you can also join seniors’ bingo that takes place for free every month!
