Taking a Harbour Air Seaplane from Vancouver east over the Georgia Strait, the Gulf Islands break the ocean surface like pebbles in a pond. These balmy islands, called the Hawaiian Islands of Canada, are a magnet for leisure lovers all year 'round. You can fly to several of the islands by seaplane, most notably the small town of Ganges on Salt Spring Island. (And yes, Ganges is actually named after the river in India). Or take the car ferry from Tsawwassen south of Vancouver, which weaves among the islands and makes several stops.
