A manageable and modern museum
Noteworthy for: The Taipei Biennial is always an interesting showcase of the country's best artists.
The mission statement has always been to promote both modern Chinese art and stimulate international exchange, so while you'll find an emphasis on local works from the Japanese era to today, there are also many pieces from international artists.
Despite having six floors, the museum is very manageable in size, reasonably priced and home to a good cafe and shop. The Zhongshan Fine Arts Park surrounding the museum is a popular hang-out on weekends, and has further rotating outdoor exhibits and events.
