It is one of Edinburgh’s main art galleries and boasts of one of the best collections of Scottish art, housed in a former warehouse. With a total of six floors, there is plenty to see here. Visitors would not just find Scottish art on display here though as the centre boasts an array of international artists that rotate throughout the year. Currently on display is the featured Peter Randall-Page, who presents a series of drawings based on mirror images and branching patterns. The permanent collection is one of fine art consisting of 4500 works including paintings, photography, sculptures, drawings and installation art. There is a shop on-site and a café, in which visitors can purchase a variety of items. Open on Wednesdays through Saturdays from 10 AM to 5 PM and Sundays from 12 PM to 5 PM, admission is always free to the permanent exhibition but there are admission charges for the temporary exhibits that change depending on what is on offer.Refrain from posting comments that are obscene, defamatory or inflammatory, and do not indulge in personal attacks, name calling or inciting hatred against any community.
