Like most other marketplaces in Phuket, Malin Plaza has affordable clothing, luggage, footwear, electronics and souvenirs. Its USP however, is its location as the market is ridiculously close to the bustling Patong Beach, the literal heart of the island. While most shops are nestled inside reconstructed shipping containers and massive tents, some have fancy lights and air-conditioning. If you are bored of splurging on sarongs, graphic tees, handmade soaps, cute mobile covers, flip-flops, coconut lanterns and paintings of Lord Buddha, you can simply relax with a plate of fried chicken, barbecued seafood, wholesome crepes and coconut ice-cream and wash these down with staggeringly cheap but potent cocktails. The food stalls of Malin Plaza are truly made of dreams, especially for a hungry tourist on a tight budget.
