Situated inside a 19th-century mansion on the northern slope of the Acropolis, the Kanellopoulos Museum houses the private collection of Pavlos and Alexandra Kanellopoulou donated to the Greek state.The museum was founded in 1976 and comprises an extensive collection of jewellery, clay and stone vases and figurines, weapons, Byzantine icons, bronzes and objets d’art. There are around 6,000 works of art in this museum, which belong to different phases of history. The collectibles of this museum have been displayed in a chronological order for the convenience of the visitors. In fact, this arrangement has been known to do a great deal in keeping the visitors engaged during their visits to the museum.
