Take a comprehensive look at the works of a Fauvist master
Keeping his spirit firmly alive in a well chosen location within a short distance of both the artist's grave and his former residence at the Hotel Regina, the Musée Matisse provides a comprehensive insight into the work and life of Nice's adopted son.
Borne of an initial donation from Matisse himself, the collection has been dutifully cultivated over the years. The museum now not only features a substantial back catalogue of the artist's work, but also proudly holds several of his personal effects which gives the exhibition warmth and personality that is so often missing from retrospectives of this kind.
