Mesmerising pics from the beautiful Amrit Udayan (Mughal Garden)
Amrit Udayan or Mughal Garden is an integral part of the Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi. The garden is a beautiful example of fusion of Persian, Timurid, and Indian architectural styles. The place draws inspiration from the illustrious Mughal dynasty, which left a mark on India's cultural and architectural landscape.
The foundation of these gardens was laid during the presidency of Sir Edwin Lutyens, the chief architect of New Delhi, who beautifully combined Mughal aesthetics with British design.
Let's have a look at some amazing pictures of the garden that will leave you mesmerised.
Architecture
The architectural prowess and meticulous planning offer a glimpse into the vision of the leaders who shaped the capital city.
Location
Adjacent to the Rashtrapati Bhavan, the Mughal Gardens serve as the official residence of the President of India. Designed to be a serene retreat, these gardens provide a picturesque backdrop for state ceremonies, diplomatic receptions, and other official events.
Flower show
This event, typically held in February-March, coincides with the blooming season, treating visitors to a visual feast of colours. Tulips, roses, dahlias, and a plethora of other flowers create a vibrant tapestry that captures the essence of spring.
An annual attraction
One of the unique aspects of the Mughal Gardens is the annual opening to the public during the Udyanotsav or Garden Festival.
Pattern
The central axis leads visitors through a series of terraced levels adorned with intricate geometric patterns, water channels, and strategically placed flowering shrubs.
Design
Spread over 15 acres, the Mughal Gardens are a paradisiacal expanse of manicured lawns, vibrant flower beds, and elegant water features. The design is a symmetrical marvel, reflecting the principles of Mughal Charbagh, an ancient Persian-inspired quadrilateral garden layout.
