Home to one of the most spiritual and sought after religious personalities in the modern world, Dharamsala is the place to go to get the blessings of the Dalai Lama. Over the years, it has become increasingly popular with foreigners who arrive seeking his attention. You can try to attend a public audience, and shake His Holiness’ hand, and try and get a private audience if you’re really fortunate (you’ll have to arrange that by writing at least four months in advance). Although there’s no fixed date or time, the Branch Security Office on Bhagsu Road can provide you with information as to his whereabouts. You’ll need to register, so carry your passport and be prepared to wait.
