Entry to Taj Mahal is restricted to 3 hours from now on according to a notice issued by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), to protect the heritage site, and to reduce the human load on the 17th-century monument of love, which has started showing signs of ageing and deterioration.
As during the peak tourist season, around 60,000 to 70,000 tourists cross the Taj Mahal complex per day, ASI proposed to put a cap on the numbers of visitors coming on a daily basis. This will now be around 40,000 daily.

The white marble monument, Taj Mahal, has a huge footfall of tourists throughout the year, and it's becoming unmanageable for the CISF and the ASI both to protect and preserve the beauty and charm of the world recognised UNESCO heritage site.
The ASI is also likely to introduce a system to issue “zero-value” tickets to children below the age of 15 years so that they would be able to keep a count of the number of such visitors, whose entry will remain free.
Thus travellers who are planning to visit the Taj Mahal soon, must get the complete information regarding the change in time, and the capping on numbers of visitors, to avoid any misunderstanding.
